I never imagined a major town in South Wales could be so run down. I checked out of the accomodation a day early and found myself in the High Street around 0830. I had an hour or so here before my train out of town and I saw nothing of interest to a visitor.

First time in Wales for me. Everywhere we went met with friendly people. Even the girl in Next chatted while serving me and laughed with me about my day.Family meal (14 of us) at TGF. Made welcome and served with a smile all evening. Coffee shops also had staff interested in our stories. Pity we live in Perth with 8 hour drive as liked people and places and a return trip maybe when newlyweds have family

The room was good, the pool was out of commission which spoiled the weekend because that made the jacuzzi impossible to gain entrance to due to the amount of people being let down on the pool. Food was perfect.

we were down for a Bridge Congress so not involved with sightseeing. We walked in to Maindee for a meal on Sat evening, expecting a better selection than we found....but an interesting Caribbean Restaurant ( a bit more like a cafe really) but the food was OK and freshly prepared and the price was reasonable

There is a lot to like about Newport and the surrounding countryside. My favourite feature is without doubt the famous 'Transporter Bridge'. You have the choice of numerous venues for both Rugby and Football matches and a great selection of local Parkruns.

There are many places to eat in Newport, there is also lots of shops and local bars with live music. It is close to Newport football stadium. It also has a little castle near the train station. The new Newport market is a great addition to Newport, it had lots of small shops and a variety of different restaurants which you can order on the app and get it served to your table.

This hotel is simply superb. The bedrooms are enormous, the fittings and fixtures are excellent. The cleanliness is remarkable. The breakfast is very scrummy. The car parking is safe and secure. But the best thing about staying in this hotel is the quality of food available in the adjoining Dragonfly restaurant, served by staff who know how to make the customer happy. I have already booked up for my next stay in this hotel and would recommend it to anyone planning to stay in a hotel in Newport.

Location perfect for the town (3 mins walk), Roman sites and museum (10 mins walk), and a bus-stop outside the hotel to get to/from Newport. (Although, taxis also easy to get.) The property has recently been refurbished. A bit odd having the wash-basin and shower cubicle in the room rather than ensuite, but not a problem. Friendly staff. Breakfast choice is cereal and full English, or cereal and full English - which suited me, but some might find the choice limited.

The hotel is located on the immediate outskirts of Newport and seemed to be undergoing refurbishments when I arrived. I arrived a couple of hours ahead of check in time, however, the staff were very friendly and professional. They even allowed me to store my bag out the back while I went into Newport itself. When I got back to the hotel, the lady passed me my bag and belongings before pointing me in the right direction.

I was upgraded to a Deluxe Double for £10 so that I could check in early. The room was massive and with all amenities . Staff were really friendly and listened to everything we needed including ordering a taxi. Breakfast was excellent and the bar area including music was very good. We were going to the 6 Nations - Wales vs Scotland and the hotel had certainly geared up with Welsh flags , hats etc

I was attending a conference at the ICC and planned to cycle there each day. The hotel were happy for me to keep my bike in my room so it was secure and arranged for me to have a ground floor room near the door to make that easier to achieve. The staff were all friendly and helpful and the food at the Hungry Horse was cheap and tasty. The bed was comfortable and the heating was excellent!

It was a very pleasant stay. Everything was up to the mark. Very well maintained, clean and tidy. All the necessary things were available to use. The location was perfect, it was 10-12 mins walk to the Newport train station and just 3 mins walk to the near by grocery Market. Early check in request was not entertained but Overall it was a great experience.
