The breakfast was good. Plentiful yoghurts fruit and cereal. Wide selection of cooked breakfast options that were ordered by completing a tick box menu. Prompt, friendly waitress / waiter service.
Comfortable room. Dined in restaurant one evening, good menu selection, generous portions and food properly cooked and presented. Generally friendly staff throughout hotel. Spacious free car park.

The receptionist was very accommodating when she knew I was staying alone, and told me I was safe. The room was cleaned in time for me to have an earlier check-in which I was glad to pay the additional £10 for.

We were in room 14. The whole business is closed and shouldn't be available for rental. It is false advertising as what their website shows is far from the truth. Mould on walls. Toilet not flushing. Dirty bedding. Threadbare carpets. It is clear that the business has closed. It shouldn't be avialbe for use and to be charged £105 for room only, for a place that is inhabitable is a disgrace. Booking.com need to do more research on what they are offering. I would be very hesitatnt to use booking.com again. I will be making a review on trip advisor.

The town itself isn't particularly interesting, but it has a lovely castle with attractive grounds - great for walking round and also entrance at times. Surrounding countryside is also attractive with easy access to the Wye Valley, Roman remains at Caerwent and the Brecon Beacons.

TV couldn't recieve signal, could only access a hand full of channels. Food from the nearby restaurants were very poor. Bed was very uncomfortable. Shower gel and had wash almost empty. only one toilet roll in bathroom. lack of staff
Lovely decorated guesthouse, with small things that make a difference (home-baked cake on arrival, good choice of teas in the room, conditioner...). Great breakfast with various options and very accommodating host. Caldicot was just a resting spot for the night, I wouldn't recommend visiting the town, but at least this stay made it more pleasant.
The Lychgate is only 10 mins from the main trunk roads and easy to find. It is located next to Caldicot Castle and has an excellent pub on the opposite side of the road.
The room was boutique size, more than adequate for us. The room and property were spotlessly clean.
Breakfast was plentiful.
We would stay there again
The location was perfect for us as we were going to a gig at Caldicot Castle and it was literally across the road. Easy to find, access instructions were great, parking on the drive and extremely close to a pub which did a fantastic meal.
Great freshly cooked breakfast which set us up for the day
Apart from the higher management being obsessed with putting up anti-covid posters everywhere, it was a good stay in a slightly shabby but good hotel. It is a pity that there is no proper restaurant in the hotel itself, only burger type foods next door. Altogether a reasonably good place to stay.
Lovely stay after a hard day's work. The Wales game was on and everybody was on a high so good atomosphere combined with great staff to control everything. Would recommend this place to others whilst working also.
