More or less everything was as it should be. I like the fact that you could cook your own eggs at breakfast and there was a good selection of breads. The staff were all very nice indeed and the hotel was quiet amid beautiful scenery.

Hotel Bären - the Alpine Herb Hotel, hotel in Wengen

Hotel Bären enjoys a quiet location in the car-free Wengen, just 350 metres from the Train Station, offering views of the Jungfrau Mountain and the Lauterbrunnen Valley.

The staff was extremly friendly. The woman that welcomed us (I presume she was the owner of the hotel) actualy gave us a larger room with mountain view free of additional charge. Me and my girlfriend are foodies, and we like fancy restaurants. The restaurant in the hotel was Michelin standard, for a reasonable price (Dinner costed around 150€ but it was worth of it). Very tasty and good portions.

    I liked Wengen very much.

I liked Wengen very much. There’s a decent selection of restaurants and a few shops to browse around. It’s easy to get to and easy to get to Mürren and Grindelwald from. The scenery is stunning and everyone was very friendly. A great stay

Our first trip to Wengen and although it’s a trek to get there it is easy using Swiss rail network. Fabulous mountain village and benefits from being traffic free. The skiing was great although not extensive and other areas are a challenge to get to but enough above the town for a weeks casual skiing. Those who like to travel around may find it restrictive. There is one T bar lift to get back to Wengen if you traverse to Klein Schenigg which is a pain but you can either ski down to Wengen or take the train if T bars are not your thing ( not ours!). The town has a range or bars and restaurants but is peaceful. A few shops too selling ski wear, walking gear and Swiss stuff as you would expect. Local food shops are well stocked as well. We used the COOP mainly. They also sell firewood if your place has a log burner. We went to ski but would love to go back in warmer times to trek as it looks fabulous!

Wengen was straight out of a postcard! The town was charming and the views were second to none. The vacation was wonderful for us as a couple, but is also very family friendly. There were well behaved dogs with many of the visitors as well. I cannot wait to return!

The setting in the Jungfrau Region is jaw-dropping.

The setting in the Jungfrau Region is jaw-dropping. Small village feel with accomodations ranging from rustic to luxurious. Traffic-free, except for the occassional taxi or public works vehicle. Train access to high apline environment is unparalleled! Just wish the snow was better in late January.

Stunning scenery wherever you go. Good mix of transport options (train, gondola, cable cars) - just need a bit of patience as only runs every 15-30 mins. Great place for sledding, walking and just enjoying the majestic mountains.

Very cute town with lots of local places to eat/drink and shop on the on-season. Since we were there during slack, there were VERY few options. Wouldn't recommend unless it's full-on winter or full-on summer!

The hotel is located right in front of the train station, there's a Coop next door and a self-service laundromat at the building (reception will help with more info). The views are breath-taking and you can take the train to Kleine Scheidegg and take another from there to the Jungfraujoch (The top of Europe). Lauterbrunnen is just down the hill, the train runs every half-hour and the ride is only 13 minutes. The hotel has two restaurants (great steak) and there are many around (pizza, pasta, steak, and Santos has the best burgers 🍔😋)

The hotel location was breathtaking, the staff were all amazing, and the room was beautiful. We often ate at the hotel restaurant (4 course meal that changes daily) and the food was *always* fantastic. A big thank you again to the amazing people that keep the place running. Even though the hotel was full to bursting point, including a huge family of at least 10 adults and 20 young children, the staff were always smiling and helpful. I wish them all the best and am looking forward to staying again - hopefully next year :)

We felt very welcomed the moment we stepped into Hotel Bären. The room was set up in such a cosy and homely manner and our young children loved it. The breakfast spread was wonderful and we enjoyed it very much. We had dinner twice at Bären restaurant The service and food served is truly outstanding that it certainly belongs to it's number one ranking in Wengen. Our best meals and stays are truly at Hotel Bären and we hope to be back soon! Thanks to Therese, Billy and team for making our stay absolutely memorable!

Great Hotel, with very friendly and helpful staff. Shout out to Monica at the reception who went above and beyond to help us. The hotel itself is very clean and located in the beautiful town/village of Wengen. The rooms had the most brilliant view and we could have easily spent our whole vacation in the balcony just looking over the Swiss alps. The staff helped us transport our luggage to and from the train station (which is just a 10 min walk from the hotel). Breakfast was good, and I will definitely return.

While the location is not in the center of Wengen, you can walk to town to grab the train and cable car. The upside to being outside of town is stunning views of the Lauterbrunnen valley from the hotel. Overall, the staff was very kind and helpful. The rooms were larger than most hotel rooms in Switzerland and some provided a balcony. The balcony is worth the extra money. The Bellevue also provides regional dishes that were delicious. Again, they are worth the extra money. Overall, we loved the Bellevue!!!

Great location near the main st of Wengen, right by the train station, especially handy if you have lots of luggage. The trains were very quiet and didn’t pose a problem. We took 1/2 board which was great value. Plenty of good food on offer. I would highly recommend if you’re on a tighter budget. Hotel a little dated but its location and facilities made up for it. The Spa was free for hotel guests and was a great addition. They provided luggage storage, again a great help .I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

My wife and I stayed at Maya Caprice Hotel in Wengen in March 2022 - superb location, conveniently close to the train station and the cable car station to Männlichen, but these stations are not usually busy at all so the place is still very quiet. A few awesome hiking trails also start from within walking distance. The room was great, but the view was surely the highlight! Staff were also very helpful, and the food was good. We'll be back for sure!

Beautiful quiet boutique hotel at the end of the main Dorfstrasse in Wengen, away from the busy train station. The restaurant with its cosy-rustic but elegant interior and the fabulous sun terrace is a stand-out. The dinner surpassed all expectations - you really don’t want to eat anywhere else. What a treat. The corner room had plenty of mountain views, and the balcony was very nice. The restaurant prepared very good food. The breads at breakfast were wonderful. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the shuttle to the train station is useful. The lobby is very attractive. I've stayed here before and it is my top choice in Wengen.

My room was a bit small, reflected in the lower price, but offered a A+ view of Wengen and the mountains. Andreas and his wife, who run the hotel, were superb, very friendly and helpful, and took our heavy bags and us from the train station up to the hotel, including a 'village tour' en route.
