The Flying Steamshovel Inn, hotel in Rossland

The Flying Steamshovel Inn provides free WiFi throughout the property and rooms with air conditioning in Rossland. The property features a bar, as well as a restaurant serving American cuisine.

We were here for one night after our drive from Banff. I reached out to them earlier to see if we could arrange an earlier check in and they were fantastic to offer us a 2pm check in. Communication leading up to our arrival was great. They were quick to respond and provided thorough check in instructions as there is no lobby/reception with a physical person greeting you. You are provided a code to enter your room. Using the code to enter your room was easy with no issues. The room was large and very comfortable. It was great that the bedroom also had a sofa bed/sofa. A fridge, microwave and coffee machine. The coffee provided was fantastic. Bathroom is large and spacious also. Plenty of space to hang your clothes etc. Also had a heater/air conditioner in the main room and a heater in the bathroom.

The room was beautiful and cozy and had all of the amenities we needed for our stay. It has the feel of a modern lodge and was very quiet, though located above a bustling restaurant. I wished I could have stayed longer. The locally roasted Seven Summits coffee was exceptional, so we walked to the shop and bought a bag to take home. The location was also convenient, just uphill from the main street in downtown Rossland. We enjoyed dinner at the restaurant downstairs and breakfast at a local cafe.

Fantastic location given that it’s a 2-3 minute walk across the parking lot to the lifts. This is a brand new hostel with a large, modern kitchen and common areas with nice views of Red Mountain. While there were no staff at the hostel due to COVID, the check-in procedure was super smooth and well-designed.

Every single person we came into contact with who worked at the hotel from front desk to waitstaff was so helpful and pleasant. The room and entire hotel was brilliantly clean, the restaurant and bar was great along with good and reasonable food. I would totally recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Was my third time staying there and first in the deluxe king room, which is honestly one of the nicest rooms I've ever stayed in. The layout is really open and the decor is awesome, plus you have a great view of Rossland. Will definitely be staying there again, highly recommended

Hotel was under construction. Not able to use lobby at all. No place to sit with friends. Did not receive any compensation for unsightly hotel. Description of repairs sent after reservation made underplayed the extent of the construction.

Lovely location on Red mountain, so close to Rossland and reachable to other towns in the Kootenays. Lovely homey feeling on the inside, well furnished and plenty of room so a large group never felt cramped.
