I liked our room because it was huge and everything just felt like we were right at home. Breakfasts were also of a high standard again providing a wide range of options. Rooms are spacious and well appointed with quality bathroom fittings and a good shower. The private beach is kept pristine by daily beach combing, although it has to be said that early in the year the adjacent coastline suffers from seaweed and plastic debris brought in by the prevailing currents. At low tide the extensive tidal lagoons and sand bars provide for a great recreation, just strolling in crystal clear warm waters through meadows of sea grass, looking for exotic sea shells or watching the antics of the tiny blue sand crabs. If you are looking for a small quiet “out of town” retreat on Bantayan, with friendly staff look no further than the Maykenn Beach Resort. PS for a whistle stop tour of other delights on Bantayan the road tour is not to be missed.

I recently stayed three nights at Astillo's Guest Houses in Cebu and it was a wonderful experience. The location is convenient, just 15 minutes by scooter from the city center, offering a peaceful retreat. The room was clean, spacious, and well-equipped, making my stay very comfortable. The small, beautiful garden and the free coffee and water available all day were delightful touches. The staff was exceptionally helpful, and the ability to rent a scooter on-site added to the convenience. Astillo's is an excellent choice for anyone seeking a serene yet accessible stay in Cebu.
