Richmond
Nestled in tranquil surroundings overlooking the historic Richmond bridge, The Sargeants and Armoury Cottages were built by convicts in 1823. One of the first cottages to be built in Richmond and used to house the Sargeant who oversaw the building of the Historic Richmond Bridge which was also constructed in 1823. On entering the cottages the peace of yesteryear enfolds you as you step back in time. The adults-only cottages each feature a wood fire and French doors which open on to a relaxing courtyard. Guests at The Sargeants and Armoury Cottages receive complimentary port and chocolates on arrival.
Guests can take the short 3-minute walk to local cafés, bakeries and restaurants which are located in and around Richmond city centre.
Friendly check-in, clear instructions given for check-in when we arrived. A small slow-combustion wood heater had been lit before our arrival, warming the entrance lounge/dining room. Toasty! An electric heater was also provided to warm the front lounge in the morning when we used the kitchen to prepare a cooked b'fast.
