Sheraton Hartford South is 9.9 mi from downtown Hartford and the Mark Twain House and Museum. It features an on-site restaurant and an indoor pool. I did not have breakfast. I did have dinner and it was delicious.
We only stayed at Hartford for one night, as a stop on our way to the Mohawk Trail / Mount Greylock. I wish now that we had allowed for a day's stay there as by the time we had seen only a little of the attractions of Hartford it was well into the afternoon. Places like Mark Twain's house and the River development are a must. If we ever get back to New England Hartford will be on our stay for a while list. An easy city to find your way around. almost limitless choices for excellent dining.
The location is nice, it's near restaurants and gas stations and shopping. The beds were comfortable. But our entire experience was awful. I will never stay here again, nor will I recommend this place to anyone I know. There are multiple hotels up and down this street, Choose Wisely
Glastonbury is a beautiful town. It has a lot of great restaurants and shops. Close to Hartford and an easy trip to New Haven. Unfortunately we were there for a funeral and didn’t visit restaurants or anything
I loved visiting the Mark Twain House but as we tried to find some interesting things to do there in the Hartford area, we didn't find much to our personal interests. We were there to watch the UConn men's soccer team but I'm not certain I'd revisit except for that reason alone. We did however learn that the witch trials originally happened here 30 years (app 1660's) before the Salem Witch Hunt but I found little to do in Hartford to learn more about this. The food in the city was good with a good selection of restaurants.
Hotel is outdated for the location it's in. Security is non-existent on property. Concerning. Hotel has two stairwells that you cannot access lobby from. Both exits or stairwells take you outside without option of accessing lobby. Vending and Ice Machine not working on 3rd floor. Elevator up button worked but not down. You had to go up to get down. Filthy elevator and less than clean smell. Seen fragrance boxes but not sure if they were working. Housekeeping staff overwhelmed. Which compromises cleaning which compromises health. For a Choice Hotels brand We had no power and hotels were limited if there was another choice I would have considered it. We were there 4 days. I had to pay for food everyday because of a lack of breakfast versus number of rooms that paid. Hotels always replenish breakfast bar depending on number of rooms paid. Numerous Veterans contract stipulation at hotel. Government contract versus individual paying customer. This property appreciates the long term while your day to day customer dollar is taken for granted.
It is a city with many beautiful older buildings, lovely parks. And a lot of homeless and a mix of business people who feel better than other people. The architecture is gorgeous. The people leave something to be desired. Stores close early and open up late. Very hard to get any kind of pet food. Unless you take transportation or drive miles on
