There was myself and my son, we had loads of room. Everything you would want. A huge laundry room and a clever design where the toilet and bathroom are separate rooms. It’s about a 15/20 walk into town which we enjoyed. Handy to walk off a beautiful meal at the Blue Lake Eatery.

Although we did not need 4 bedrooms, as my husband snores, having the use of 2 bedrooms was fabulous for respite on our 3 week South Island trip. The many heaters meant we did not have to use the coal/ wood fire which we used with ease on the first night but I was concerned about creating particulate pollution so we resorted to the excellent oil column heaters which heated up the place well. It is quiet despite being near the railway tracks and the washing was useful for our post tramping laundry which was easily dried on the line so although there is no dryer, none was needed. I appreciated the excellent communication from the proprietors. Their clear instructions made the trip seamless and stressfree.
