When we arrived, we were immediately impressed with the quirkiness of the Dairy - it felt modern, inviting, and fresh, with cow-themed decor that gave the place a boutique feel. Reception was friendly and quick and we were checked in with no issues. Our room was similarly fantastic: spotlessly cleaned and warmly decorated. The bed was very comfortable (they even accommodated my request for one big double bed instead of two singles side-by-side!) and we had control of the room's AC. There was also fast wifi, a desk, and a safe, which were all amenities we appreciated. The free drink vouchers we received if we chose not to have our room cleaned were a bonus - a great treat when we returned to the hotel each night. The location is fantastic, right across the road from the Centrum (Center / Old Town) of Haarlem and only about a 15 minute walk from Haarlem Station even though the street that the Dairy itself is on is quiet and safe. We had easy access to lively restaurants and cafes and spent one evening in Haarlem just to soak it in. The 24-hour reception was amazing as well when we needed to leave at 5:30 AM on our last day to catch a train. We chose to stay in Haarlem mostly as a transitory location because it was much better value for money than Amsterdam proper, but the Dairy and Haarlem itself were so wonderful that we would visit again.

My friend of 40+ years and I shipped our bikes to the Netherlands to cruise around. Over the two weeks we were there, our favorite hotel, hands down, was Hotel Anna. We are simple guys in our 70s who appreciate getting outside the cookie cutter hotels. We stayed at Hiltons and Best Western but we liked the accommodations at Hotel Anna the best. The rooms were perfectly pleasant, the host was great and our bikes were safe outside in the courtyard. The breakfast wasn't much - there were no platters of meat and cheese - but like I said, we are simple guys. The coffee was good and the rooms were clean. The hotel sits a stone's throw from the town center.

Augusta Hotel is situated in the old part of IJmuiden. Admire the authentic style of this accommodation and take a 5-minute drive to the beach and dunes. Staff went beyond duties to meet our needs.
