The property is non-smoking and is located 1.4 km from Nara Station. We had such an amazing time at Machiya no Yado Gu! The house gave us the feeling of traditional Japan, while being kitted out with all the modern amenities we could have wished for. Spacious, quiet, tastefully designed - and an unbeatable location a stone’s throw away from Nara park. Best of all, we had one of the most incredible hosts we’ve ever encountered. He went out of his way to generously help us every step of the way. Even drove us to the train station on his actual birthday! Can’t wait to be back!
Nara
The air-conditioned holiday home consists of 2 bedrooms, a living room, a fully equipped kitchen with a microwave and a kettle, and 1 bathroom with a bidet and a hair dryer. Offering free private parking, this 3-star holiday home also features free WiFi. The holiday home offers bed linen, towels and laundry service. This is an amazing property and we loved staying in a traditional Japanese townhouse, in a quiet part of town. I was travelling with my husband and 3 adult children in early April. The location is great for walking into Nara (10-15 mins). We arrived in the evening and it was lovely that our host had put the heating on for us and it was easy to retrieve the keys from the key safe. It was a bonus to find there are 2 toilets and 2 hand washing basins in the property. We all agreed that the shower is the most powerful shower we have ever come across - amazing. All the beds were large doubles and very comfortable. We stayed for 4 nights and our host had left lots of extra towels for us (far more than we chose to use). We liked that the bedrooms could also be heated in the evening, if needed. I used the washing machine and the instructions in English were helpful. There were lots of hanging rails to dry clothes on. The kitchen was well equipped and had more than we needed to reheat meals from the convenience store or to make snacks. For the rest of our stay in Japan we stayed in aparthotels in family suites. I was great to have so much room to spread out in for a few days. I highly recommend this property.

This is an original Ryokan still run by the same family. It far exceeded my expectations. What a lovely host. I was greeted warmly and given special attention to help me with my following day's plans to walk the Yamanobe Road. The Ryokan itself is perfectly situated close to Omiwa Shrine and the start of the journey. My tatami floor room had two parts, so it was not only spacious but beautifully and traditionally arranged with tremendous grace. The garden was right outside my room, immaculate and beautiful. I was treated to an excellent private hot spa bath in the evening, making it just the perfect stay.

Very cheap price for a double bed room with a private bathroom - check in and check out are extremely no-fuss, you just walk in and out. Room was actually bigger than the last budget hotel we stayed at. Very short walk from the station, great food places within walking distance too.
Great location and good price
Japan's Share hotels offer a very nice standardized hotel experience, as you know, what you will get. Good location between the park and city center.
Great central location - very close when coming from the train station. It is also easy to walk to city center and the sights there.
The building was old and had a great charme. The location was great, not too far from the main attractions but not in the noisy city center (especially at night). 10min on foot to the nearest train station and 15/20min to Nara park. A lot of interesting attractions all around.
Location was ideal: adjacent to the JR Nara station, yet isolated from the hustle bustle. A well-appointed grocery store was nearby as was a Starbucks located in a historic building. Hotel was similar to other 3-Star accommodations in Japan; compact yet full of modern amenities. Property was recently rebranded as a Spa, yet I didn’t take advantage of low-cost public bathing facility. Having a separate laundromat with microwave and beverage machine were added bonuses. Room had a work desk. WiFi was robust.
Great budget stay in a good location for visiting Nara park and a few of the most popular sights
Great location in the middle of the park, very friendly staff, big room. Very good price!
Amazing location, a bit far from the city center, but that's exactly what I liked about it. The staff was really helpful, giving tips about the surroundings and the person who checked me in even spoke fluent english which was a first on my trip. Also, the building and room itself had a real cozy vibe to it, which was nice.
We loved Nara and this hotel in particular! Deer in front, nice garden, central location, great food, nicest service doing all for you to help, just take a bike, nice library, drinks for free all day ( incl best sake), etc. All in all, loved it, good price/quality, recommend!
