A 1-minute walk from JR Morioka Train Station, Hotel Route-Inn Morioka Ekimae features a hot public bath, a restaurant and massages for ultimate relaxation. The hotel provides a complimentary breakfast buffet, and it offers free-use internet PCs and rental laptop PCs. The room was clean and despite being next to a large train station, very quiet. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was busy but very nice and fresh.

This 3-star hotel has air-conditioned rooms with a private bathroom. The hotel has a hot tub, a 24-hour front desk and free WiFi. Super clean, simple and comfortable room plenty big for one. Wonderful friendly and helpful staff. Nice breakfast buffet for the price. 5 minutes from the station, and conbini and supermarket nearby. A couple restaurants in the same complex as well as a great crepe shop, a huge farmers market, and space to hang out outside. Only about 20 minutes to Morioka, but the train is every 30 min or so.

This 3-star ryokan features a spa experience, with its public bath and open-air bath. There is a restaurant serving Japanese cuisine, and free private parking is available. I wish that I had discovered this place sooner. My husband is a passholder at the nearby Appi Ski Resort so I booked the family room to work out of while he enjoyed the powder. We were impressed with the Cyprus bath in the room, but it had nothing on the outdoor rock bath. The outdoor baths are both accessible to all guests on a first-come, first-served basis (you can lounge in the lobby and wait for one to open up). The building itself looks like an old lodge and has a beautiful staircase in the lobby. The staff were all very helpful, and there were at least two who spoke great English during our stay. We also booked breakfast and dinner, which I'd say are a must. The hotel advised us that there are no food options nearby. We luckily had a car, but if you don't, definitely be mindful of this.
