Staff was absolutely amazing, they were caring, attencious and sincere. The hotel itself is a gem, its an older hotel but delivers a lot for its two stars. A lot of croatian families were there, atmosphere was very nice and cool. It is not a five star hotel or pretends to be it, but serves good food and lodgind for a fair price in a very nice location. So I have to reccomend it!

Great concept with the villas/bunkies. We liked the proximity to town for a walk and everything was close at the resort

Maria, the owner, is such a a kind person. I only stayed one night but I felt like home. Definitely I will recommend this place to stay en Stari Grad.

Stari grad is a beautiful place and the people are very friendly.Lots of very nice bars and restaurants to choose from and lots of little streets to explore.,Public transport is cheap so its easy to check out other places not too far away.We found Taxis to be expensive so try and negotiate a price before you get in.A very relaxing, laid back place, just right for a chilled out holiday.

We could not of enjoyed Stari Grad more if we tried.
We could not of enjoyed Stari Grad more if we tried. The food was delicious, the people were incredibly friendly, and the architecture was beautiful.
If I can recommend anything, it is to visit Blue Doors. The food was amazing and all the Owners family recipes, the wine we selected (which I believe was the house white) was made next door to the restaurant. All the staff were lovely and we chose this location for our final meal of our holiday.

A peaceful and beautiful port, quieter then Hvar, but still with excellent restaurants, nice landmarks and a lovely feel to it.
Melting Spot for coffee.
You can't get any day boats to the smaller islands from Start Grad- you (unless you pay to do a private excursion) so you have to travel back to Hvar to do this.

I really love this place!
I really love this place! I've been there three times (first time 12 years ago). But I have to admit that prices in restaurants have gone mad this year. I understand inflation and everything, but I've been to Rome before visiting Stari Grad and food in Roman restaurants was 20-40 percent cheaper! Stari Grad (and Hvar island as a whole) is gorgeous! But it's not Rome! And I'm pretty sure it's not only my opinion because I was there a year ago at the same time (mid June), and this year restaurants were half-empty and I saw a lot of people walking away after looking at the prices on the menu.

It's very quiet and small.
It's very quiet and small. A good breakaway from the many tourists! However transport is a challenge. Only taxis available and a bus. Taxis charge €50 to get to Hvar town where all the boat tours etc depart from. So you either need your own car or you need to catch the bus. In June the bus only ran at certain times which limited transport options from Hvar back to Stari Grad to exorbitant taxi prices! Information is not shared easily. One has to hunt everywhere for information. I do not believe I will be returning to Hvar. The boat tours are also over-priced for what you get.
Hosts were very good communicating about recommendations for transfers and arrival times. Their daughter was with them on our arrival to explain in English how everything works. Rooms are comfy, spacious with en suites with all you could need. Pool is great with lots of inflatables to keep the kids entertained. Nice bottle of wine and chocolates from the hosts on arrival, and a small gift on departure. Easy walk into Stari Grad with lots of nice restaurants, and 5 euros by bus per person into Hvar on the bus with the stop across the road.
This has been the BEST place we have been in Croatia by far. The apartment is gorgeous and just 5 minutes walking from the center. It has everything you need: a kitchen with all the utilities, a washing machine, dining table, sofa, TV, a balcony with awesome views, etc
But the best of this location is definitely the hosts. They are extremely helpful and make you feel like home. We will definitely recommend this place to anyone going to Hvar and we’re sure we’ll come back.
How can you not fall in love with this place? Really beautiful room with astonishing view! Very spacious, spotless clean, all made with the best materials. Great staff who wants to make your stay unforgetable.
Nice breakfast on the terrace where you can watch all the boats come and go.
Beside that all, Stari grad is - on our opinion - the best place to stay on Hvar. A really charming town worthwhile visiting! When you do, just stay at B&B Heritage Villa Apolon!
The whole restaurant with lobby bar and pool bar is very nice. The staff there were very nice and friendly. The food was always great. I really like the concept about their half board system (Flexi), where you can order food from menu any time you want to. The beach is right in front of hotel and the sea is incredibly clean. There are a lot of parking places so you dont have to wory about a parking. The city Stari Grad is just a 15 minuts walking from a hotel.
That was for the first time we´ve had All inclusive in Croatia. It was really light all inclusive but for the price more than pretty good :) Our room with a beautiful sea view was perfect and a bed was super comfortable. Hotel Arkada is in a very great location in Stari Grad - ca 1 km near centrum but with several beautiful approaches to the sea.
Incredible service from Jelica and her staff. Would definitely stay here again. Incredible quiet location, close to the ferry terminal and a short walk from Stari Grad. The level of personal service from Jelica is incredible, she is willing to answer any questions and really makes sure you have an incredible, personalized experience in Hvar.
The owner is very friendly and understanding. The place is organized with clear instructions for everything (like how to use the appliances, etc). The room and bathroom were clean. The terrace was beautiful and spacious. The place is a 2-minute walk from stari grad and bus stop. Overall, it was a very good experience.
This place was perfect. Comfy bed, great kitchenette, great bathroom, aircon, and even has a great washing machine!! If you’re looking to stay in Hvar, I’d recommend staying here in Stari Grad, it’s much more relaxed and even better when you stay at places like Olive Tree!!! 10/10 recommend this place.
The apartment is very spacious, very clean and with a beautiful view over Stari Grad. It is well equipped and modern. The house is located in a nice and quiet street and still everything is within short walking distance.
The host is very lovely and drove us to the ferry port.
Our host was extremely welcoming and greeted us when we arrived. Her place was very spacious and has the best balcony to relax on after a long day of exploring around Stari Grad. Our host was very helpful in storing our luggage for a few hours after we had checked out.
Cosy stay like in room of Medieval Castle. Very quiet. Kitchen is separate, we were alone, so it was comfortable to use it any time. Good location, two minutes from bus station. By bus you can go to Ferry port, Hvar city, Jelsa and Vrboska and back.
this is a beautiful decorated and modern designed hotel. they have a great hotel on offer.
just to note that stari grad ferry terminal is literally next door, so if you can make that port work for you as taxis on Hvar are grossly overpriced.
Everything was exceptional. The hotel is perfectly situated near the port of Stari Grad, the views are splendid and the whole concept of the hotel is very well planned. Everyone working there really paid attention to every detail.
We were given a booklet all about Stari Grad that helped us plan the best day activities as well as things to look for and do. It was such a helpful and thoughtful items to share with us.
- Great chill zone around the swimming pool.
- The restaurant is opened all day until 10pm, which is really great (flexibility).
- Stari Grad is a quiet, but beautiful spot in the island.
The owner Maria was fantastic, the apartment is perfect and well stocked, a 5 minute walk to the beach and the harbour front shops and restaurants. I would return for a month!
