The staff is extremely kind and accommodating, everyone was exceptional. The room had a gorgeous view of the sunset over the lake and the location was absolutely ideal- I was cycling the Camino from Porto to Santiago and this was one of my favorite accommodations along the way. I got a boat to take me and my bike across to Spain and it could not have been more convenient from the hotel, and only €6. The spa was also lovely and I very much appreciated that they accommodated me on a Monday morning before I had to continue my Camino, and let me check out a little later to accommodate my massage. Thank you for having me!
Arca Nova Guest House is located in Caminha, a few steps from the train station, the center of the village and Minho River.

The podlike setup actually muffled out a lot of the normal hostel sounds. The hostel owner is amazing and very warm! I really appreciated the selection at the breakfast you can get for an extra 5 euros. The hostel is very close to the center of town so it's very convenient.

Caminha, a fortified border town located at the mouth of the river Minho, where several battles were fought between Portugal and Spain, now has much more friendly relations with its neighbor , it is a nice place to stay a few days to discover the area, unfortunately the ferry that connects the two banks of the river, is out of service.

I have been taking holidays in Caminha for over 30 years so it is one of my favourite spots. The town is small and everything is in walking distance, packed with enough restaurant choices to keep you satisfied and very well fed. Around it there's plenty interesting things to see and places to visit, also more restaurants with more excellent food to enjoy. The proximity with Spain is also a bonus.

Great little town with a lots of culture and tradition. As a pilgrim, there were not so many places to stay, but I met some lovely people there. I loved walking along the river Minho, beautiful landscape, fascinating architecture. It's a quiet town that is located on the riverbank of Rio Minho and you can cross the river by ferry to Spain.

CAMINHA is a very attractive little town especially the old centre which has a lovely bustling square !
Many decent reasonably priced restaurants.
There are lovely clean beaches & super views across the River Minho to Spain !
Ideally located for walking on the beautiful unspoilt Serra da Arga or along the coastline.
Easy to nip across to Spain on the cheap ferry.
Good train service to other interesting places.
We just stopped for a couple of nights, but we definitely would have stayed longer. The house is really lovely with a beautiful view on the Minho River and a wonderful garden with pool.Kevin and Nadine are super hosts! They are always there to help to make you feel at home and they also preparare a great breakfast in the terrace using fresh food from their garden.
The room is not so big, but the patio and the garden/pool outside are enough to completely charge batteries and relax. Free parking and clean spaces in all the house
Very clean welcoming and comfortable apartment.
Helpful staff at the reception. They prepared the breakfast for us early as we needed to catch the ferry early to continue our Camino journey.
I highly recommend this apartment, however let them know in advance if traveling on bikes as space for bikes may be limited.
This hostel was great! It was beautiful, clean, comfortable, spacious and with a very warm welcome. I was glad to have a few hours to visit Caminha, which is a nice little town to see!!! Very well located; close to everything and close to the boat taxi if your doing the Camino!!!
Great little town and accommodations perfect for Camino pilgrims. Great breakfast and nice that they provided transportation to the little boat to take you over to Spain. A foot bath in the reception area was great for weary feet.
Rooms were comfortable but host even better.
Beauty and spacious. Also, there was a need to use the bathroom drying racks and the property owner made sure that the racks where turned on through the night. Furthermore, thoughtful appointments where in the kitchen as a welcome treat.
This is one of the more special places where I've ever stayed. If you ever go to that part of Portugal, you have to visit this gem. It's a true experience, perfectly maintained hotel, wonderful owners and a gorgeous setting.
I think the general design of the place as well as the host and people working there created an amazing warm atmosphere, which makes me want to come back there. It was one of the nicest stays during my camino.
The rooms were nice and location at the market place lovely.
Overall a better location. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere. So did the wine cellar.
However the hotel saw better says in the past.
A few klm from town , nice and quite! Comfortable, clean with attention to detail. Very good breakfast. Spacious grounds with great hosts!
Hopefully we will be able to visit this property again!
The place was nice, comfortable. Simple. Great kitchen. Large, garden terrace that was beyond beautiful. Lots of space to air dry clothes. Victor (one of the staff) was super kind and helpful.
The hotel was great great value when I went, fab shower, nice size room, clean, free parking, and an excellent restaurant downstairs, value for money was a 10! Stop by it was very good.
We were just passing through and didn't have time to visit the spa but we hope to return. It was spacious, great location, beautiful room, great shower, amazing breakfast buffet.
The room was really nice, very comfy bed, great breakfast. Definitely what I need after a few days walking Camino. Spa was nice as well, as well as the hotel restaurant.
