This place was amazing and it was the best place we stayed in Costa Rica. The staff are amazing, the food is great, beautiful property inside and out.
Cute little town near the airport. Probably not a destination, but, if you have a night to kill before flying out, it's fine. Otherwise, there isn't anything I know of to draw visitors. Couple cute restaurants on the main street. Felt safe walking around after dark.

We did more in San Antonio than we expected to do.
We did more in San Antonio than we expected to do. The church in the center of town was welcoming, and there are a lot of restaurants with good food and service. The bussing to other areas (San Jose and Heredia) is well marked and has an appropriate schedule. Plus, the area felt safe to walk after sunset. Because of its convivence, we extended our hotel stay to stay in the area, and only bussed to San Jose for the day.

For us La Rivera is a take off and arrival point, so the easy airport access is important. It is an easy walk to a phone store or Pali supermarket for some basics, and the local pista, church and park give you a safe introduction to Costa Rica. There is not much else to do in the immediate area.
This hotel was a gem! The photos did not do it justice. We booked it for our last night in Costa Rica and enjoyed it greatly. The surroundings and decor were tasteful. My husband also enjoyed a dip in the pool.
A big thank you to the staff members as they were exceptionally nice and helpful - I don't like coriander and the staff members did everything to make sure I would have no coriander in my food. If we go back to Costa Rica we will book a longer stay in this hotel as they also organise wildlife trips.
The hotel is very convenient for San José. On arrival at the airport the routine is to send a WhatsApp message (they will already have made contact on WhatsApp) and they will send the hotel minibus out within a few minutes. It’s about a 15 minute drive so there will be a short wait. But this operates at any time of day or night.
There also a very good pizza restaurant attached to the hotel.
The hotel is clean and comfortable and set in lush gardens.
The lady checking us in was very friendly and helpful. She was also very kind to let us check into our room early. She also made sure to show us the room and made sure that everything was clean and working well inside. The room was also a great size and it included a full kitchen with appliances. That was a nice bonus. There is also an excellent local restaurant right across the street from the hotel, which was very convenient.
Hotel was very close to airport. It did not take us long at all to get there even with all the construction going on. The restaurant gave you four different choices to pick from. Both mine and my husband liked the breakfast, fresh. We also had dinner in the restaurant, that was really good for the both of us. They had a man playing the saxaphone who was wonderful. Nice place to relax
The staff was very responsive to our inquiries & requests (both via Booking.com & WhatsApp). There were a restaurant, bakery & deli on site which made it very convenient for meal & food options. They have complimentary/free airport shuttle. Breakfast was included in our hotel rate.
Overall, the hotel had a nice, European B&B vibe in its layout and building structure.
As a close to airport hotel La Riviera met all our expectations. Easy to get to (apart from the traffic….but that wasn’t the hotels fault) and very good, comfortable accommodation.
Staff were really helpful and it’s great to have a very good restaurant on site when you’ve just had a long haul flight and need an early night.
We liked the on-site restaurant which is in a separate building in a large open air space. The staff communicated with us everyday to ask about our dining preferences for the next meal. For us, the hotel was just a convenient overnighter near the airport, but we could have stayed here comfortably for much longer.
Rachel the receptionist was just wonderful and the rooms were large and very well cleaned. In terms of proximity to the airport the hotel works - a short taxi ride. The hotel has a lovely pool and everything it needs to be a really great choice - yet I wouldn't choose it a second time.
The absolute perfect airport hotel experience. We met an American family who own a property in Costa Rica and they stay here every time they come (twice a year). GREAT restaurant, the free shuttle is a great service and staff are ON IT. Next time we come we will stay here for sure…
The hotel is close to the airport. It has unlimited water and coffee at the reception. The staff is kind and helpful. I would suggestion learning some Spanish words here. The private room is quite big and has everything you may need as well as ventilation.
We stayed at La Riviera only one night due to the location nearby the airport. The area was quiet and calm. The parking lot has a decent size, the garden around the hotel is very pretty, the breakfast was also tasty. The staff was nice and friendly.
1. The restaurant was very good, and there was also an excellent bakery immediately adjacent to the restaurant.
2. An adorable, friendly cat named "Sol" was at the reception area.
3. The hotel is very close to the airport.
The hotel was conveniently located a short distance from the Alamo car hire location, which was great after a long flight. The area felt safe, and breakfast/dinner in the restaurant was good.
I arrived in the late afternoon and took dinner at the hotel. What I enjoyed most was Rachel practicing English with me while I practiced Spanish. Very courteous and pleasant young lady.
Loved it - could’ve stayed longer :-) Such a great hotel with lovely staff, incredibly spacious rooms and perfect location for an overnight stay ahead of an AM flight!
This hotel is a delightful alternative to the chain hotels near the airport, with local character and a good restaurant. The free shuttle is a big plus.
