This was an unbelievably beautiful property! The dining area, pool side, and property are exceptional! The view from this hilltop location was great; it was breezy and pleasant even on a hot day. The staff were very kind and welcoming and the food is fabulous!! The included breakfast is wonderful and we had 2 delicious dinners as well. Great atmosphere!

Gabriel at the front desk was the best. Super kind and attentive, made our stay significantly better. The pool area is excellent and the rooms were clean. Wifi is speedy with the occasional stuttering but I was able to do several video calls with no problems.

You must have a car to get around to the beaches of Montezuma and the roads are rough. Grocery stores are hard to find if you want to cook at all in your rented villa. Ocean super warm and wonderful--loved Tambor beach. Wonderful fresh fish market there.

Very small town with little to do. 3-5 nights is more than enough time to see the area. Tourists (and locals) on loud motorbikes and ATVs are everywhere day and night. Not the quiet jungle getaway we imagined.

Montezuma is such a great place.
Montezuma is such a great place. So chilled, the locals are so welcoming and it just does its own thing. There are a number of good places to eat in the very small town so try everywhere out especially in the farthest reaches of town. And shop around for trips. There can be quite a difference in price with the different outlets.
During turtle hatching season, be sure to go to the beach to the left of the town and you'll see them dug up and then marching to the sea. It's a heartwarming and unique experience. Also, go back to that beach at night to see the most wonderful stars.

Small but charming and lively resort.
Small but charming and lively resort. Excellent restaurants (particularly fish dishes in 'los Artesanos') and cafes and very easy to book tours through local operators. Crashing rollers and risk of dangerous riptides made swimming somewhat risky, though ideal for surfers. A 40 minute walk along beachside path to north brings you to the magnificent beach of Playa Grande where swimming is a little safer, if not risk-free. A short walk to the south is Montezuma waterfall; it's a must-see although access requires proper footwear and some scrambling/rope work. Swimming in the refreshing pool and launching oneself from the adjacent rocks beneath the falls is highly recommended; not so, climbing up the slippery rocks immediately adjacent to the waterfall as exhibited by some foolhardy locals!

This is a very welcoming place made with a thought for the guests and their comfort! It has everything you need for a top experience, the team was perfect - they take care of all you may need, so you can simply be and enjoy life at the Montezuma beaches! Having the option to cook your own meal, makes it perfect for families with children, but very near-by there are also good restaurants - from 5 stars ones to the simple Sodas - and if you can - dont miss the Soda (Artesanos) nearby, the food there was superb and the prices - surprising in a good way!

It's a very small village, but it has its vibe. Moreover, there are many things to do around: hiking, surfing, swimming, watching bioluminescence, trip to the Isla de Tortuga is also possible.
There are plenty of beaches around, which are within walking distance.
Despite its size, there are a few very decent restaurants where I would like to go back.
If you are not looking for a crazy party place, it's a fantastic spot for a vacation.
Great Hotel. Noisy Room.
I hate to give this hotel anything but a 10 rating as the hotel, staff and location were excellent. But the constant noise in our room detracted from the stay. The hotel property is quite gorgeous with a stunning garden/lawn area backing on to equally beautiful oceanfront. The grounds are immaculately kept, the breakfast was fresh, hot and tasty and the service from all staff was exceptional. The rooms that face the ocean (away from the road) and on the top floor are sure to avoid the issues we had.
We loved our stay at Hotel Horizontes de Montezuma! The location is perfect for when you have access to a car and want a calmer area. The hotel is located on the hill, a bit further away from the busy restaurant/shop area but still within short driving distance. The staff is super friendly and helpful! The breakfast is delicious. The pool is nice and refreshing and beautiful especially at nighttime under the stars. The rooms are easy, comfortable and clean. Perfect getaway spot for easygoing couples!
Good location in centre of Montezuma, with sea view and nearby beaches, good restaurants, bars & stores, rental (ATV) and activity providers all within a few minutes by foot. Nice pools in the hotel to cool off, nice private terraces for hanging out (often with hammocks), nice flora and fauna on and around the hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. The one-bedroom wooden bungalow up the hill can be romantic with its open concept and cleaners come regularly, mosquito nets are installed, so low risk.
Beautiful View from my room/balcony!
Delicious Breakfast, Made to Order.
Staff was very accommodating.
Hotel is situated at the top of a hill and at the "head of the trail" that leads to the Waterfall.
Waterfall Trail is complimentary to Guests of the Hotel.
Additionally, the Montezuma Zip Line Tour is discounted to Hotel Guests.
Hotel is committed to keeping the property in good condition.
The Landscape is lush and visited
Outstanding Oasis and Value.
We stayed for 2 nights in July. The hotel was in a good location in town. It didn’t have a restaurant and it’s good that the restaurants & bars are walking distance. The room that we had was at the back so it was quiet. It had an outdoor patio furniture and a hammock and had a view of the pool. The pool was clean and it is nice to have one since it is very warm in Montezuma. Gabriel and Victor were helpful and friendly.
The staff was ready for us despite a last-minute booking. they graciously spoke English to us, which was very welcome after a particularly long day traveling. The air conditioner worked wonderfully. The bed and pillows were unexpectedly comfortable and good quality. The attached bath was adequate and had hot water. There was dedicated parking for the hotel, which was helpful as parking is at a premium in Montezuma.
I don't know what other people are complaining about. This is a solid option in Montezuma. It's centrally located right next to the bus stop, close to the restaurants, park, supermarket, beach, etc. Wifi was good enough for me to work remote. Beds were comfortable, included breakfast was great and the facilities were sufficient. The workers were friendly and spoke good enough English if you can't speak Spanish.
The place of the Hotel is very comfortable! very close to the beach and in Montezuma town, yet still nestled in a quiet zone of the center area. The restaurant of the Hotel offers many options also for Vegans and the Breakfast which is included is very nice. There is also a big pool and a Yoga Shala with awesome Yoga classes every morning.
The location of the hotel is ideal, a bit off the main strip of town, with lots of greenery around.
Lovely common/breakfast area with hammocks, from where we could see monkeys some mornings.
Breakfast is simple, and includes a choice of pancakes/toast/cereal and fresh fruit and tasty coffee - in the heat you don't need much more!
Staff were super friendly and helpful. Breakfast at the restaurant was wonderful. Breakfast bowl smoothie was the best. And had the best nights sleep in the massive King size bed.
Access to the pool at Ylang Ylang hotel was the cherry on the cake!
I loved this hotel so much I came back again. It was my little piece of heaven. Right on the ocean, the property and room was so beautiful and clean. The staff very friendly. I will definitely stay here again if I return to Montezuma…..
Beautiful hotel ideally situated in the heart of Montezuma, a few yards from the beach and close to all the bars and restaurants. Incredible customer service from the very kind hotel manager
The breakfast buffet in the morning is so fresh and healthy. The provide ALL the options. The hotel is on a very beautiful piece of property walking distance to everything in Montezuma.
there are only 3 cabins in a quiet place between Montezuma and Cabuya. The owner is a great guy and lives there with his family. Great pool, a 2-minute walk to the beach.
A lovely location in the hills above Montezuma. The restaurant and dining area were beautifully situated. It was clean and well maintained with lots of character.
Owner was very pleasant and we had some good conversations, and gave me some good travel advice. The hotel was very close to the ocean with a wonderful view!
