Pool is a nice feature ans breakfast was great. We especially enjoyed the authentic home cooked Sri Lankan curry buffet - it was delicious.

We have been to a number of very good family run b&bs throughout Ceylon. All of them good. But this one deserves a 10 because the owners really put a lot of effort in making clients happy. The dinner and breakfast was excellent and the safari tour organized by them also. The driver was very experienced and went through roads outside the beaten path to find animals which in this season are hiding and difficult to find. Great. The room was very clean, aircon worked well, mosquito nets etc. Just one tip: europeans like their breakfast with coffee or tea served together with food. After only for lunch and dinner.

The place is totally lovey, nicely decorated, well maintained, spacious rooms, the shower is just supercool. The place is at a nice quiet area but close to everything. We had some difficulty on our way and arrived after check-in hours. We managed to call the owner and he was soo helpful, they even put aside a superb dinner even we arrived after the the kitchen was closed. The staff and the manager were also very friendly and helpful. We would certainly will come back to this place when around. Totally recommended. We went on a safari arranged by the hotel, the pricing was good and the cars were in great condition. We went on 3 hours and that was good for us. (tip: ask a car with armholders at the seats - we happened to have one and just realized how comfy it comes at bumpy roads in the park :)) Wish we could stay longer.

This place is incredible. The mud huts, made by the owner Upul himself, are quite large and well furnished. The bathroom was nice, with a cold shower and good water pressure. The bed comes with a mosquito net, though I'm not sure if it was necessary with the A/C. The location is great, just off the main road. You are a short walk to the restaurants and shops, but far enough removed that it is quiet, and feels like the jungle. The provided breakfast is very large and delicious. We also had dinner there one night, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The various curries were all so yummy. We did a full day safari with Upul. His love of animals is obvious, and he is so full of information. The roads near the entrance of the park are very crowded with other safari jeeps, but Upul very quickly took us away from the crowds. We didn't see any other jeeps for hours, it was amazing. He pointed out so many animals that we would have missed otherwise. The safari also includes breakfast and a snack, which were very filling and delicious. This is the place to come if you want to visit Udawalawe and do a safari!

Sitting on the balcony watching the birds was so relaxing. The staff are so friendly and helpful, arranging us our safari and onward taxi. The Sri Lankan curry and breakfast were the best we had!

The on-site Rose Restaurant serves Western, Chinese and Sri Lankan food. This is a great resort with friendly professional staff. My accommodation was better than I had anticipated. I had a basic tent with a fan and I was comfortable enough. They do offer tents with AC as well.

Just a few minutes from the gates of Udawalawe National Park, the property offers a quiet, comfortable space where both kids and grown-ups can unwind and enjoy nature. We had a wonderful stay at Kalus Hideaway Udawalawe. The food was delicious, and the staff were exceptionally well-trained, attentive, and friendly. The rooms, while slightly dated, were spacious, functional, and well-equipped. We enjoyed the beautiful gardens, especially the butterfly garden, which was a delight to explore. The on-site restaurant had a lovely atmosphere, and our excursion to Udawalawe National Park was a highlight of the trip. Overall, a relaxing and memorable experience — highly recommended.
