Service and meal offerings were spectacular; the rooms modern and well-appointed, on par with any four-and five star hotels. Something that really caught my attention was the cushioned floors in the room; walking on them gave a level of comfort I’ve not felt at other hotels. And end your day at the iconic bar where John Lennon entertained those gathered on that piano when he stayed here.

The owner was extremely helpful and even offered me a lift towards my next destination. It is slightly out of the way but perfect for visiting the local onsen. Extremely comfortable room.

Our stay at Nomanomori was absolutely wonderful, thanks to the incredible hospitality of Sen and Taka. Sen embodies warmth, kindness, and an exceptional welcoming spirit, while Taka has a calm strength and genuine caring presence that made us feel so at home. They took such good care of us, and our conversations were light-hearted, joyful, and truly memorable. If you’re looking for a place where you can relax, feel completely at ease, and connect with the lovely spirit of Japan, Nomanomori is perfect. We can’t wait to return!

Opened in August 2012, B&B Hotel Hyochoan offers simple Western-style accommodations. Free in-room WiFi is available and guests can enjoy bird watching from the property’s terrace. The hosts went above and beyond in every aspect to take care of my parents during their stay. It was very helpful having the pick up and drop off service from the train station since they weren't confident navigating by themselves.

At Daymaruya Ryokan, guests can enjoy hot-spring baths and traditional Japanese-style accommodations with free wired internet access. The couple who runs this ryokan is lovely and their inn provides an authentic feel that allows you to appreciate the culture. Their private onsen was our favorite among the town's public onsens. Great experience. Great location. Great people!

Located in the Shibu hot-spring district, guests can enjoy indoor and outdoor hot-spring baths at Suminoyu. Massages can be requested and a footbath is also available for extra relaxation. Absolutely loved our stay here. Our room was gorgeous and massive, with two beds and Tatami area. The baths upstairs were amazing, the authentic Japanese meals, dinner and breakfast were amazing and the presentation was 10/10 at the tatami tables. The staff were lovely and we loved the robes we were given, they thought of absolutely everything for us. The fact you have access to other baths too is great, can’t recommend this place enough!

A small 6-room inn with Ryokan meals and cosy interiors, Yasuragi is just a few minutes drive to Jigokudani Monkey Park and an 8-minute walk from Yudanaka Train Station. Hot-spring baths are featured.... This was an amazing cultural experience. The lady was very welcoming and made sure we had a pleasant stay by cooking amazing meals and breakfast. We had the normal meal on the first evening and a vegetarian meal on the second evening while wearing the yukata's that were provided. Both meals were fantastic. The area is quiet and beautiful. At the snow monkey park we saw three monkeys, which was a nice surprise since it wasn't very cold that day. We enjoyed the onsen. The smaller one is hot but very nice once you get used to it. If you're planning to visit the snow monkeys we definitely recommend staying at yudanaka yasuragi for an amazing japanese stay.

A 5-minute drive from National Treasure Matsumoto Castle, Ryokan Seifuso is next to Shinshu University and boasts a view of the Northern Alps and the freshness of the Metoba River. We loved staying at this place. It is family run and you feel right at home the moment you arrive The service was excellent - very personal - and it has everything you require for a comfortable stay. The breakfast that was served was exceptional, and delivered with such attention and care. There was alot of space for use outside your room, including access to the onsen facilities. The extra touches - including a ride to the train station - made the whole experience wonderful.
