The inn has a lot of charm. The onsen was really cosy, not too crowded (in January), and beautiful. The staff was warm and welcoming, and this feeling applies to the inn itself. This place was an unexpected surprise. From the get go, the service was absolutely amazing. The room was spacious, decent view, great air conditioning, plenty of outlets as well to charge devices, and they even brought up our luggage that we had delivered from Sapporo for us. We were able to also book a private open air onsen as well with the option of sake. It was an amazing experience. We choose to have dinner from the hotel and it was amazing to. It did not disappoint. This was my first Ryokan onsen experience and I loved it.

Built in 1913, the Kusatsu Hotel exhibits the architectural style of the Japanese Taisho Era. The room was very big and clean The public bath was incredible and relaxing. Good location, near the main streets of kusatsu onsen. Also, the pickup service at the bus station is a plus

Dinner and breakfast was all you can eat and the food was fabulous. There were so many variety that I couldn’t sample them all but what I did have were all delicious. In the morning they had fresh squeezed orange juice where you can see the machine squeezing the oranges. How much fresher can it get. Refreshing and Delicious! Relaxed in the huge onsen and enjoyed the oar and drum performance. We had to leave early in the morning and the hotel was able to accommodate our request and shuttle us to the bus stop at a non scheduled time. Thank you Sakurai hotel. We enjoyed our stay very much.
