Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandZero sound isolation - people walking around or going to the toilet outside you can hear all the time. Room quite hot. Bed is very very small in the one-person room, and I'm not a tall person! Mattress was also strangely skewed or I realise this is cheap, but I've had much better beds and could sleep in cheap ones.
Location is good

PolandThe hotel is located not far away from typical old town attractions (art galleries, pubs & clubs all kind). Metro stations are located in 5 mins walk, from where you can travel literally anywhere. In a close area there are a few very good restaurants and spots to have a nice breakfast or branch. Besides the receptionists are very friendly and helpful. For short city breaks traveling it’s definitely a good place to stay.

United KingdomOur room was in the basement, so there wasn't a lot of sunlight, and the windows opened right out onto the street (which freaked us out a little bit). My wife and I were hoping there would be a nice lounge area for us to sip some wine while our baby slept, but the restaurant/lounge area wasn't exactly inviting for that purpose and the hotel didn't have any wine for purchase (there was a vending machine with beer... but we didn't have change). This wasn't a big deal, we sat outside the room the following night, but it wasn't the "escape" stay we hoped for.
The location was good. A short walk to the Albert Cuyp street market, museums, and a few good parks. There was also a decent size grocery store nearby. Relatively easy to find by car or foot. The room itself was large and the staff at the hotel were very helpful and friendly. They let us keep our luggage there for a few hours after check-out, which allowed us to get our rental car and come back rather than drag a heavy suitcase 30 mins in the hot sun.

United StatesThe biggest problem was the sound: I could hear everything from the halls, rooms, other guests passing by. The facility was generally clean, but in need of some attention. For example, the bathroom shower has water damage on the ceiling, needs repair. There is a handheld shower only, and it was very difficult to keep it from spraying out of the shower.
Staff was very nice. Efficient housekeeping. Breakfast was sufficient, with decent range of options. Location was quiet with easy access to transportation. The room was very small but efficient for my purpose, with access to the breakfast lounge and back patio if extra space is desired.

AustraliaDespite a clear policy on quiet after 22:00, there was a lot of noise and carry on from some young guests which was very disruptive to those trying to get some sleep. Otherwise the hotel was delightfully quiet and pleasant. There appears to be a strict policy on no earlier checking in even if rooms are ready.
A lovely older hotel with friendly staff who are fluent in English and do their best to make your stay comfortable. The location was fabulous, being close to the museums and public transport. Rooms were as advertised and clean. I felt the steep staircase added character and charm to the place but this will not be suitable for all travellers. Notably the staff did offer to assist with carrying bags up the stairs which was kind but not necessary for me.

ItalyTo stairs to the rooms are extremely narrow (even for a size 4); smell from the bathroom was a bit strong; good breakfast but since the space is tiny you have to tell in advance what time you will have breakfast, and if the slot you want is taken you have to wait for the next available slot. Price is high for what you get, as rooms are small, but prices in AMS are expensive everywhere.
The hotel is in a typical dutch house, in a good location to reach the city centre but far from the noise and chaos. Comfy beds and very warm room.

United StatesThe photos of the rooms are pretty misleading unless you're lucky enough to get a front facing room. We had a room on the backside with two really small windows and sloping ceilings to contend with the whole stay. And also, only in the fine print do you realize there is no elevator. We were on the top floor and there were 73 VERY steep steps to climb to get to our room. This was absolutely brutal after a long day of travel and not getting to the hotel until night time and realizing we had to haul heavy suitcases up four perilous flights of steps. I truly don't know how anyone in even mediocre shape would have been able to do this. The bathrooms are small as are all European bathrooms. My biggest issue is the fact it's like a wet room in there, there is no lip to hold the shower water back so it just floods into the whole bathroom if you don't dam it with several towels. Also no A/C so the room was very warm most of the time, making it difficult to sleep soundly.
The staff was friendly, the location was decent, although a solid mile's walk from the hubbub of Amsterdam, which was good when you wanted to get away from the crowd, but tough when you were tired and just wanted to be back to your room.

TurkeyThe given room was in the minus floor. There was a little window on top of the wall and there was no view at all. We wanted to change the room, but they said there were no other available rooms. They must have noticed us about the room’s location before our visit.
The location was perfect. It was just 5 min walk to the museum area. There were nice cafes and restaurants around. Also, the supermarket was very close.

United StatesStairs very steep but is part of the building heritage! so be prepared. No easy way to communicate with the front desk in the middle of the night. WhatsApp could be an alternative so think about it because works with wifi and data.
Location: excellent! at 5 minutes of the museums! plus the area is quite so great for sleeping at night. Breakfast: Excellent! wit lot of options, from yogurt to meat, fruits, bread, pancakes, love it! Room: ok but I could hear the noise of next room, no way to communicate with the front desk from your room unless you have a cellphone to call them, so if you opt to not have a working cellphone (like me) you have to go down, the stairs are very steep so was kind of a little downside. Anything else excellent! Plus you can rent bikes at the hotel which is very convenient.
