There wasn't anything I didn't like.

We love staying here when we take a trip here. The staff are always very lovely and helpful. It's very comfortable and a homely feel to the place. Rachel who was working on reception was particularly helpful and reassuring with an issue I had. It was extra special this time as we got to see some deer who roam within the grounds. We were delighted to see them !

There was absolutely nothing to complain about!

Everything about this place exceeded expectations. The staff were extremely helpful and professional. The ambience was elegant. The common areas, lounges, bars and restaurants were beautifully furnished and inviting. Breakfast included a wide range of freshly prepared food, and we had a table by the window both days with fantastic views. Our bedroom suite was spectatular, greatly exceeding expectations. It was unusually large with nice furnishings and a comfortable bed. There was a walk-in closet and the bathroom was enormous and included a jacuzzi tub. We were able to spend hours and hours hiking and visiting Muckross Abbey, Muckross House, Torc Waterfall and Dinis' Cottage right from the front of the hotel. We had dinner at the bistro. The service and food and ambience were all excellent, and there were three main vegetarian choices on the menu, a rarity to find! Another visit to Ireland will definitely include a return visit to this fabulous hotel in its beautiful lakeside setting.

The floor we were on was difficult to manage suitcases, as although there was a lift, there were also steps that had to be maneuvered.

The room was cold and we were advised by staff that the heating was turned off now that it was summer, even though we arrived end of May. I would have liked the option to be able to turn the heating on as nights were still cool.

It made you feel like you were in an old style luxury hotel. The buffet breakfast was excellent with a wide range of delicious options available.

We were not able to secure a king-sized bed. Not a deal breaker for us but for the couple who traveled with us, they were not given a king bed as requested (hotel said they were all sold out - we both booked months before!). Also, our room was over the restaurant that had very loud music until around 11 PM. Not good. We used the laundry service - when my husband went to the front desk to retrieve our clean laundry (it was late in the evening past the time they said it would be delivered) the front desk lady kept insisting they would bring it up to our room - it was hanging right behind her!

We had a lovely view of the lake from our room. Note that we were on the 2nd floor so the roof of the patio/restaurant below stuck out quite a bit. We were also close to the elevator as requested. The room had a fireplace which we did not use and was very clean. We used the laundry service which was appreciated. Also, we were able to book a Gap of Dunloe by pony and trap and return by boat tour thru the front desk manager. We chose to have breakfast included which was very good and enjoyed a dinner in their restaurant which was equally good.

We loved everything about our stay here. The hotel was beautiful and comfortable, the staff friendly, and the restaurant good. The location was exceptional. We were so comfortable here we hated to leave. Everything about the property and grounds were impeccably maintained, and every detail considered. Our room in the original part of the hotel was completely remodeled with high-end furnishings and fabrics.

Nothing about the hotel but we were there in early May and with the location on the lake you might get bug bites. I would take repellant if you go out at night.

The hotel was beautiful. The beds were comfortable . The breakfast was outstanding. The location overlooks a castle and the lake. The setting is beautiful and was very well located to visit the Ring of Beara and the Ring of Kerry.

Initially we were put in the oldest part of the hotel and the rooms were nothing like what was pictured I was when making the reservation so needless to say we were initially very disappointed. Luckily Megan at reception was able to get us moved to different rooms the next day, which were much more like what we thought we were getting.

Once we were moved to different rooms, we enjoyed the accommodations. The grounds and lake were beautiful. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We found out the day before we left that they allow you to fish in the lake from shore which we would have loved to do, so maybe next time we will try it.
