How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Fantastic location. Metro stop Just outside, as well as one of the best bakeries I've been to, ever. Ideal to explore the city. Really lovely staff. Kept our luggage before check in and after check out. Really friendly.

Central location meant Street noise could be heard but it did not stop us from having a good sleep.
The property was well managed and the rooms were cleaned daily. Staff were very helpful. Beds were very comfortable.

The mattress was not comfortable and they provide one small pillow for each guest which was not enough

We had no Window with natural light, the pillows were very unconfortable and actually I found that we had 2 flat ones stucked in one pillow case.
That we had a bus stop in front of the hostal and the metro station 1 min walk, clean and quiet, they also keep your luggage if you need after check out. Bouqueria market 3 min walk and to get to the aerobic stop it was about 10 min walk. Amaizingly located.

It was noisy. Everything from next door was clearly heard. The light from the hallway was entering in the room from the bottom of the door. There were no sunlight in the room, as the window was looking to the inner courtyard
The location was great. A lot of shops and restaurants. Quick access to the metro and bus stops.

Dark room, small wardrobe with 5 hangers for 3 people, so we had to keep our cloths in suitcases. One sheet to cover for 2 people
Excellent location near metro and bus station.Spacius, quiet room, comfortable beds, hairdryer, cosmetics, coffee machine on reception, glasses in room, air conditioning.

It was everything it needed to be at the price. Simple, yet clean, quiet and comfortable. Not a venue for those who struggle with stairs. The only way to reception was up a flight of around 20 steps. Once at reception there was a lift for use inside the hostel.
The location could not have been improved on. Situated about half way along Las Ramblas, almost opposite the Liceu Metro station, about 100 meters from the main market, and next door to an ideal breakfast venue.

No kettle but didn’t really matter
Location was amazing. Right next to the food market/ las Ramblas. Room was basic but happy with that. It had a balcony which was lovely to look out onto Las Ramblas. I think I paid extra for this. And I was able to leave my bag for free after I checked out until 6 pm.

The room is extremely small and a bit rustic but we were hardly there because Barcelona has so much to see.
The room was very clean and had everything we needed. The room faced an extremely busy street but the noise was dampened by the good doors and heavy curtains when we wanted to sleep. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Although there was a coffee machine at reception it is always preferable to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
It is ideally situated right on La Ramblas and very close to a metro station. The rooms were clean and serviced daily and although a little spartan but they had air conditioning, usb charging points, plenty of towels and TV.

Stairs with luggage were very hard to manage. No smoking hotel, which is normal but after having a cigarette outside and coming back up to the room we were stopped and accosted for smoking. We would never smoke in the rooms and were made to feel horrible

Super comfortable bed. I asked for an extra pillow tho as for me it was too soft. We got fresh towels every day. The room was clean. The window was facing La Rambla but it’s well insulated so not so loud. I use earplugs anyways as I’m a very light sleeper but I think it’s not that bad. The property and the reception is on the first floor and there you have to take the stairs which I didn’t mind. However from there there is a lift to the rest of the floors. I would stay here again.

The cost at close to Euro 300 a night for seven days in late October is steep for a no-frills room.
Right on La Rambla and very near the Boqueria. The Liceu subway station is steps across the street. The old quarter is all around. Clean room and beds. Small bathroom and shower stall. Split AC. Triple-pane window shuts out La Rambla hubbub as needed. Cleaned every day, friendly staff.
