This eco lodge is solar powered with delightful staff and a wonderful view over the lake from the verandaed stilt house dining area. It's isolated and tranquil with some traditional huts for accommodation. We sat upstairs on the covered verdanda for hours, drinking beer, using the wifi (intermittent but it does work!) and watching the huge national bird (crested crane) fly over head and nest in the trees nearby. Loved the view. Also ate meals there - of course a bit more expensive than in town but still fairly priced and tasted good. Free purified water offered. (no shops on the island) Take a taxi or moto from town to the boat (20 mins). Then take the little boat with outboard motor (book ahead with the lodge). (Lodge will tell you how much to expect to pay for the taxi). We were there in the rainy season and still loved it. Appreciated the hot showers after trying out the traditional wooden dug out canoe in the rain! Really recommend this place if you enjoy simplicity and nature away from the busy towns in Uganda.

We had a wonderful stay at Mianzi Guest House, the rooms were simple but spacious and clean, the common area was very nice to sit in, the breakfast and dinner were fantastic. But what really stood out was the staff, Emma and his team really went above and beyond to make sure we had a memorable stay, they provided everything we needed, even joined us on our tours. We planned to stay 3 nights but ended up staying 5, i think thats telling enough how good it was :) Oh and the view of the Volcanoes in the morning is absolutely incredible!

A wonderfull wiev over the lake. We did enjoy the atmosohere by the peacefull place. The food was tasty and healthy. We did prefere the local organic food which was made for us in the restaurant. Also the breakfest was splendid every morning. San was the chef who made tasty vegeterian food for us from local organig ingredients. Peace was the best ever as a waitress, as she was smiling and talking with us . The cottage we had was perfekt with the astonishing wy to the blue lake. We did watch the birds, the stars and we made a wonderfull boattrip on the lake. We had also a trip to a village of pygmis. At the last night we did see a flying star! Then we had the change to hope that we could come back here again! There was also time to make some jogapractising by own. We did read books. We did make meditation daily by ourselves. Also we had time to make watercoulourpainting by us selves of the landscapes. I tried to paint the landscapes which did very much remaind me of William Turners paintings Everything was organaised by a fantastic personal! We were kept so well that it felt almost like at home. The owner Edvard was so kind. He did organise everything for us. It was so nice to visite the pygmivillage and dance with them. Edvard took us to the border of Ruanda. He did help to get trough the formalities. Ores was the excellent guide on our boattrips! Ores took care of telling us how to behave at pygmivillage. He did also tell us very many stories about Uganda. Kampu was the expert to make campfire and drive the motorboat. He was always polite and helpful. Charkotte, the manager, was keeping everything in excellent hands. Always smiling and always helping in everything. With the experiencis of travelling more than hundred countries we do highly recommend this lovely gorgeous place Lake resort! We do both feel like new persons after spending four nights there!! Exceptionally helpful and kind staff, especially the owner Ivan. He showed us around town and even took us on a small hike and bike tour.

From the moment I arrived at the airstrip,the lodge had arranged for a driver to pick me up, to arriving at the lodge,the hospitality was exceptional. The staff were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind ,they made me feel right at home. The lodge is beautifully perched in the hills, offering stunning views of the surrounding forest and mountains. Waking up to the peaceful sounds of nature and seeing the morning mist drift through the trees was simply magical. The rooms at Kaara Mountain Lodge are spacious, immaculately clean, and thoughtfully designed. There’s a perfect balance of comfort, luxury, and eco-friendliness. I especially appreciated the little touches, like the cozy hot water bottles in the bed at night and the warm turndown service after a long day. The food was another standout ;fresh, delicious, and made with great care. Each meal, from the early breakfast before trekking to the hearty dinner in the evening, was a treat. The dining area itself is beautifully set, making every meal feel special. Most importantly, the lodge is ideally located for gorilla tracking, making the logistics incredibly easy. After an awe-inspiring day of encountering mountain gorillas, returning to the calm and comfort of Kaara Mountain Lodge was the perfect way to unwind and reflect on such a unique experience.

Its was very relax amd great for the budget. Ask for the local food and what the family eats. Its very nice cooking. Really like it up there

I recommend this accomodation to everybody coming to Kisoro. It is peacful, green, calm. The garden is amazing and could serve as a destinaton on its own. The host is the kindest imaginable and will cater to your every need. The breakfast is also very tasty.
