We got a lot of information about the area and details about stargazing which was possible from the lawn directly besides the property (weather dependent though, we had a super clear night). The location was amazing, directly opposite the lake with great views (perfect for a stroll and run along the lakeside). The well known Church of the Good Shepard is either a few minutes drive or 15 minute walk away. The room was very clean and we felt comfortable throughout the whole stay! I have been Late Tekapo 3 times, it is more expensive than it was. My recommendation is, stargazing is the only reason to make you stay in Lake Tekapo. Otherwise you could find a better and less expensive accomodation nearby.Guest review byAnonymousAustralia - 10

We were travelling on to another destination so had only planned to stay 1 night. Geraldine is a lovely township. Worth a visit. The Barkers shop is a must. The café is superb. Lovely comfortable older-style motel not far out of Tekapo. Has been refurbished and had everything we needed. Shower was great & beds were very comfortable. Surprisingly quiet despite being near main road. Host was friendly & welcoming. Maybe a little small for more than 2 or 3 people or for more than a couple of nights. Lake Tekapo is a beautiful place to visit.
Lake Tekapo is a beautiful place to visit. The water is bright blue, and you can still see snowy mountains all around in October. The Church of the Good Shepherd is small but very famous and great for photos. At night, the stars are amazing because the sky is so clear. You can also enjoy walking around the small town and take in the breathtaking views from the top of Mt John. The location worked out for our travel arrangements. It was different and the owners were hard working and was a good overnight stopover. I adore Lake Tekapo. Views for days. Good hot pools. Peaceful. A decent serious hike up Mt John to the Observatory Cafe or an easier one up to Cowes Lookout, both with amazing views. I've been going for years - still small but a good supermarket now and more eateries. It is getting busier and pricey, both accommodation and eateries. On the road to Queenstown so an easy stopover. Go with a car if you can - a side trip into Aoraki Mt Cook and walks up the Hooker Valley are worth it.Guest review byHeatherAustralia - 10

Geraldine is an attractive little town and a great place to stay. It has interesting shops and restaurants. Grandpa's Toys is a great wee toy shop. Verde is a lovely place for lunch and breakfast. The Village Inn is a warm, friendly place for dinner. They have a new Thai restaurant, a very good Indian, and Barkers, where you can have breakfast and lunch and buy their great food products.
