- From US$260.53 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,230 reviewsVery conveniently located on the main street of Longyearbyen. Also, the airport bus as well as tour guides stop right in front. We loved to take our shoes off and walk just on socks or in slippers throughout ought the whole hotel. It gave us a homey feeling. In addition, our room was really cozy. We had a great view, it was very quiet and the beds were comfortable. Everything was clean and we had most of the amenities we needed. We enjoyed the bathtub after a long day outdoors. What was also practical is that you needed a code to enter your room instead of a key card which could possibly get lost in this fragile environment of Svalbard. The lobby area is welcoming as one could sit next to the fireplace and enjoy a cup of coffee/tea. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. Especially the hostess at breakfast during our stay welcomed us heartily and was attentive and rounded our feeling to be at home. Thank you so much! The breakfast itself had everything we needed for a great start to the day. Overall, we highly recommend Polfareren and would love to come back again.Guest review byHeather AKGermany
- From US$161.17 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 1,469 reviewsBreakfast was excellent for such a remote place. People were so friendly. Rooms were clean. Bar was nice, the resataurant was glass roof. They have many plants in the restaurant, and is claimed to be the greenest place in Svalbard. The views are good, Location is close to city center, and a walking distance from Radisson Blu where most activities are starting. Also walking distance from Church, Brewery, Museums, Restaurants etc. From Airport there is a shuttle bus and this is the first stop.Guest review byAntonyJohnnUnited Arab Emirates
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 262 reviewsVery much enjoyed staying at Funken Lodge. Three points I would like to highlight in particular: Friendliness of each and every team member. They really want you to have a great time! Very cozy and comfortable lounge areas where you can hang out before or after your activities. The breakfast and dinner in the restaurant are exquisite, and the view from the tables is just mind-blowing.Guest review byPaulGermany

Longyearbyen is unique.
Longyearbyen is unique. It is a small settlement up in the Arctic in a stark but beautiful landscape. It is very different to other places I have visited. We stayed for 4 nights and included a couple of trips on 2 of the 3 full days we spent there. It was a bonus for us that on the third day, 14th August 2025, it happened to be the 100 year anniversary of Norway's sovereignty over Svalbard. The town is very quiet and there are not many bars and restaurants but we were very happy to find the Karlsberger pub and it's sister restaurant opposite. These are 2 establishments which are popular with the local residents and are very lively and friendly with great food and drinks. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It is very easy to walk around Longyearbyen with museums and old mines to visit or you can walk down to the shore and see what wildlife turns up.Guest review bySimonUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Barentsburg is a charming little town and somewhat off the tourist track: but it is worth spending at least two to three days because it has some very unique features. Hostel Pomor has excellent value for money: the bar/restaurant in Hotel barentsburg is excellent and cosy: the staff is very friendly and helpfulGuest review bygiuseppeItaly - 10.0
I liked the variety of shops and restaurant offerings.
I liked the variety of shops and restaurant offerings. Everything was in walking distance from each other. Depending upon your interests there seemed to be many different kinds of activities to do. I did the Mine 3 Tour and the Svalbard Husky Dogs on Wheels activity. Both I thought were unique experiences and worthwhile. The impression that I got was that there is even a lot more to do during the winter months. Enjoyed eating nice meals at Mary-Ann’s Polarrig and Radisson Blue’s restaurants.Guest review byHeidiUnited States - 10.0
