I have been to Colima many times, first trip 1990. Not really promoted as a tourist destination, but many things to do. Beaches not far away, mountains close by. A beautiful volcano overlooks the city. The dollar goes a long way in this area. Not much English is spoken, but enough to get by. The city was nice but the hotel was not. It really need an update. For the money it cost to stay there, you would think it had to be better. I would never go again. Also be very careful at the beach. DO NOT GO IN THE WATER. The whole time we were there they has RED Flags Waring. A big group party of people were staying next to us at the hotel. In one of the last night we stayed, We started to hear a lot of people crying. One of the man in the group had gone in the beach/ocean got caught in the waves and drowned. Colima was a great place to visit. But we booked the hotel through Bookings.com Price details 2 rooms Price MXN 1,798.22 When we got there they charged us 2175. Pesos. The food at the buffet was good, a decent variety was offered, but all very Mexican. Even the dish descriptions were in Spanish, so you are left guessing if you only spoke and read English. Not much in the way of non-Mexican cuisine. Also, if you aren't 30 - 45 with a whole pile of toddlers, you might be overwhelmed. Almost all guests were Mexican families, so it was difficult finding anyone to talk to. And the music every day was LOUD! No relaxing for us! The activity directors were LOUD! Colima overall is a great place to visit, you can go the the beaches along the coast. Inland has many excellent restaurants, keep in mind you are not going to a Ruth Chris type of restaurants. You can take taxis which are fairly inexpensive. You can take a trip to the volcano or drive for 1/2 hour or longer.Guest review byEsteban
