Hotel is very clean, the cleanest hotel we stayed in Sri Lanka. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Dinner was great, chef Shalom prepared very tasteful fish and prawns. They also prepared special meal for our daughter, everything was delicious. Shalom and Shashi were very nice and helpful. They provide us late check out. We felt there like at home. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Our stay at Art Yala Boutique Resort was absolutely wonderful! Muda and his team went above and beyond to make us feel at home. The food was amazing, and the location is simply stunning—perfect for a relaxing getaway. One of the highlights of our stay was the safari into Yala National Park that Muda organised for us. It was a seamless and memorable experience. The team’s thoughtfulness didn’t stop there—they even helped us book a restaurant at our next destination, which was incredibly helpful and kind. We stayed for two nights and genuinely wished we had stayed longer. Thank you, Muda and team, for such a fantastic experience. We can’t wait to come back!

An exceptional family stay, in December 2024, this was a newly built facility. The family run hotel had a homely atmosphere, everyone was super friendly and polite. The owner has put a lot of thought into the layout and details of the whole hotel. The room are expansive, very comfortable and immaculately clean. The private balconies offer great views over the picturesque rice fields and beyond to the lake. The gardens are teaming with birds. The pool is well maintained, and very welcome after a long journey. The food was super fresh and very tasty, home cooked in a very clean open air kitchen. The owner arranged our Yala safari. We had a very enjoyable stay, in hide sight we should have stayed longer.

The Best Hospitality We Ever Had They were in touch with us since the day we booked their accommodation. Host picked us from bus stop when we arrived to city. In the evening owner joined with us for a evening walk. He brought us to a place to see more than thousand fruit bats in the evening by their own vehicle. On the way back we went to see a very rare owl at a secret place. They offered us all of these free of charge and when we leaving they dropped us to the bus station also. The hospitality was amazing and the best hospitality we ever had. Absolutely they are doing more than a five stars hotel. The price also very reasonable and we couldn't understand how they offer such a service for a very cheap price. For the dinner also owner dropped us to main city by their vehicle. About the room it was very clean There is a beautiful garden with lots of flowers and fishes The place is ideal for bird lovers. Located infront of a beautiful lake with beautiful flowers. Could see crocodile also in the lake. They offered us a super fresh juice when we arrived. Again a black coffee in the evening. They packed our breakfast for the safari at 4 am. It was very helpful. We did a safari with hotel. e had the best guide and driver. He gave us lots of information about the park and animals. They recommended us the full day safari and we did. It was a correct decision. We were lucky to see two leopards and all other animals. We had a very delicious Sri Lankan Rice and Curry for the lunch with fresh fruits. Unfortunately the prices of entrance tickets increased by government few months ago. But we understood it's out of control by host and safari service. Absolutely they are the best for safari. This is the best hotel and kindful hosts we alever met on our tour.

I feel very lucky to stay at Nalin’s place. I highly recommend it! It was the best place during my trip. The room was very clean, the mattress was comfortable. We got 5 star service here. Nalin was very kind and nice, prepared everything I asked for, hot water for shower, fruit and blanket. He also brought us to see sunrise, visit 4 beautiful lakes and local temples, and introduced birds. He has very rich bird knowledge. We even saw swimming crocodile in a lake! His wife cooks so well! We had super delicious homemade dinner. I really love it! Nalin also helped us book a safari, and we saw leopard, bear, and many other animals.

As many others have commented what really makes this place so special is the incredible kindness and generosity of Randi and his family. His pride in his home area is evident in all that he shares, and we loved that he showed us around his village and surrounding area. When we first arrived he asked what we were interested in and then suggested a program that met those interests. The room was spotlessly clean, the meals were delicious and plentiful, and the location by the lake is lovely - you can take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the many beautiful birds. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!

We enjoyed a wonderful four-nights-stay in Tissa as a point of departure to the nationalparks. From the start, our friendly host and his whole family made as feel welcome and indulged us with lovely welcome drinks, dishes, tips what to visit, where to have dinner. They organised all tours to three parks with pick ups in the mornings and packed lunch. Also our drivers there were perfectly chosen and made our days special while visiting elephants, eagles, sloth bears and leopards. The house is at a beautiful lake, you can relish breakfast with a view. Friendliness, service, cleanliness, Wifi, selection of fresh fruits and homemade local food like hoppers – all five stars!!!

    We took a quick R&R trip to Sri Lanka and spent 3 nights at a tea estate in Nuwara Eliya before heading to Uga Chena for another 3 nights. While the 5-star tea estate was lovely, we found ourselves wishing we had spent all 6 days at Uga Chena—it was that fantastic! -------- Location: 10/10 Uga Chena offers the best of both worlds: a beautiful beach and proximity to a wildlife sanctuary. What more could you ask for? Accommodation: 10/10 The hotel is stunning with big beautiful well appointed rooms, the bed linens used are of high quality. With your full package, the rooms are always well stocked and have everything you'll need to have a comfortable stay. Every time we came back from breakfast, lunch and dinner - our rooms would have been made up! We never had to tell the reception even once that we need house-keeping! As soon as we'd step out of our rooms, it would seem that magically, little elves would go and tidy up your rooms! So that when you got back, you'd have cool, clean and refreshed rooms! Management: 10/10 Not just the rooms though, be it the bar area, dining areas, beach and sundowner areas or even be it the walkaways to your room - all are cleaned and raked and well maintained - but never so that you feel you're in an artificially manicured place. It's all natural and beautiful! This property is extremely well-managed and maintained. Food: 10/10 Chef Nuwan was so good - not only was our dining experience fantastic but Chef was so gracious and accommodating! You could ask for something that's off the menu and he'd whip it out for you! Everything from breakfast, to lunch, sundowners and dinners - all were fantastic! Staff: 11/10!!! Staff made this place so much more special! They were just fantastic! It sounds impossible, but not one staff member gave us a reason to complain! Everyone was so polite, friendly and efficient! No matter your ask, they catered to it, and that too always with a smile!

    I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Kithala Thissa-Yala Resort, and it was an experience worth every moment. From the moment we arrived, the tranquil ambiance and stunning views of the surrounding paddy fields immediately set the scene for a relaxing getaway. The resort itself is immaculate, with spotless rooms and well-maintained common areas. Its proximity to the main attractions is incredibly convenient, making it an excellent base for exploring the local sights. What truly sets Kithala Thissa-Yala Resort apart, however, is the exceptional hospitality of the staff. A special shout out to Ayenaji and Surangi from the front desk, and Iresh, Janith, Gihan, Wathsala, and Pavindu from the restaurant for their outstanding service. Additionally, a heartfelt thanks to the many other sweet and most attentive hotel staff who went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was enjoyable. Their service was unmatched, combining professionalism with a warm, personal touch that made us feel right at home. Initially, we only signed up for the bed and breakfast deal, but the quality of the food was so impressive that we ended up dining at the hotel for both lunch and dinner. Every meal was delicious, showcasing a variety of local and international dishes that catered to all tastes. In summary, if you are looking for a place to unwind and soak up the natural beauty of Yala, look no further than Kithala Thissa-Yala Resort.     Everything at Leopard Trails was absolutely perfect. Rooms (lakeside) Elegantly decorated, classic without feeling outdated. All facilitates were provided, including incredible aircon! Felt super luxe! Location Close to the entrance of Yala. we were first there for the morning safari. The People So attentive, went above and beyond to make the stay special. Great food. Safari we went out twice, the morning and evening. If we could have our time again, we would have done three in total. The team were very respectful of the animals, never getting too close and taking great pride in seeing them in their natural habitat. A HUGE shoutout to our tour guide Ashan who made our experience one that we will never forget. He is incredibly knowledgable, super passionate which made us even more excited, as well as knowing a lot about the bigger creatures he took much care and joy in the smaller ones too (side note, insane bird knowledge!). I even got a little photography tutorial, which meant that I could photograph the beautiful creatures with my new found skills. Would 100% recommend booking your stay here.

    Tissamaharama is a fantastic base for anyone looking to explore the natural beauty and rich culture of southern Sri Lanka. It's perfectly located for Yala National Park safaris, offering easy access to incredible wildlife encounters. Beyond the safaris, the town itself has a calm, local vibe with beautiful lakes and ancient temples to discover. You'll find plenty of local restaurants and shops, making it easy to enjoy authentic Sri Lankan experiences. It's a great spot for both adventure and relaxation, and I highly recommend spending some time here!

    Kataragama itself is a temple town and that’s pretty much it. Other than that it’s a jumping off point for safari in yala and kumana. One day is more than enough for cultural/religious aspects. The Perahara (pageant) in July is fantastic. Be warned that it may not start till midnight and may need pre booked tickets. Also watch out for pickpockets in crowded areas around this time. The country side and the rural life as well as the wildlife is fantastic and authentic. Quite hot and sunny year round but dec to feb is more comfortable.

    This place is amazing.

    This place is amazing. We stay with our 3 young kids and the staff were so kind and attentive. All of the small details have been thought of and it’s a wonderful experience in nature. Lovely local Sri Lankan are served for each meal.

    A great place to stay and would definitely recommend.

    A great place to stay and would definitely recommend. Large comfortable room close to the pool, with restaurant and plenty of cold beer. We were very well looked after and nothing was too much trouble. Anyone looking for a visit to the National Park should consider staying at Tringa and booking the tour with them as they will make sure you have a great experience.

    Weerawila, located in a dry zone of Sri Lanka, is ideal for wildlife safaris and nature experiences. This location is especially convenient during the rainy season, as it often stays dry even when the rest of the country is experiencing thunderstorms. We chose it specifically to avoid heavy rains.

    We went for leopard safari & it is in zones 5&6. Safari was excellent & saw one leopard & a bear! Hotels generally not near any restaurants so confined to your hotel for dining. Would not want more than one or two nights there.

    The owner of Serenity lake advices us to visit Yala safari, Sithul pawwa magul viharaya and sithul pawwa a super history with beautiful scenery, which we did and we're very grateful for his advice. We returned to the serenity lake to have lunch before heading off. Requested for a village kind of lunch with the local veggies and it was served on a lotus leaf... The most delicious meal it was. We had lunch at Reds and at the Serenity lake .

    I thought it was a different place to go for Safari.

    I thought it was a different place to go for Safari. But, almost all vehicles come from Tissa for Safari pickup so it doesn't really matter if you book a room in Tissa or Katharagama for the Safari.

    It definitely is an experience worth trying.

    It definitely is an experience worth trying. The tree house has all the comforts you need but yet kept on the simple side. Don't expect much and you will get a lot. Nice food Bbq and big fire lit for you in the evening to give you a chance to relax and talk about your day activities. It was great to be left alone and the silence of the night. There were times you just felt that we were the only ones there and when you needed something the staff would magically appear

    We were extremely satisfied with the hotel and its beautiful surroundings. Everything exceeded our expectations. We took lots of photos & are sharing them with friends. The restaurants,Roof bar,Spa's and the pool side and pool is world class with out doubt! The service was outstanding, and that is something that can really make or break a vacation. Congratulations to the Super Proactive General Manager Mr Krishanta Damunupola and his team members to include Mr Seeman and Miss Sandani(Intern) for being so accommodating at all times with oodles of dedication. We also especially liked the super-comfy room with the balcony, bed linens which were very high quality, and felt so good to slip into each night. Thanks so much for a lovely visit.We'll be singing your praises for a long time. Thanks!
