We had an unforgettable stay at Amber House. The room was enormous, with all modern comforts, a very spacious bathroom, and a king-size bed that made our nights perfect. The home-cooked meals were absolutely delicious, and every detail showed how much care was put into making our stay special. We loved the complimentary boat ride to the stunning, endless beach – such a unique and beautiful experience. The boat safari on the river and through the mangroves, guided by Shen, was a real highlight and gave us lasting memories. Most of all, the hospitality of our hosts, Nuwan and his lovely wife, together with their attentive and friendly team, made us feel truly at home. Their warmth and kindness turned our stay into something exceptional. We highly recommend Amber House to anyone visiting Bentota – we cannot wait to come back!

The hostess is a very nice and pleasant lady. We were here for several days and the breakfasts were a little different each time, beautifully arranged. No stereotype. We had breakfast in the garden overlooking the sea. Across the road is a shop stocked with everything. Swimming is better in the bay to the left of the accommodation, about 1 km, from the Wasana beach hotel. There are not as big waves as along the coast. I recommend Ayurvedic massage & Shirodhara

The staff is extremely professional and friendly, and the garden is beautifully groomed, located on the edge of a river. The food is delicious and presented artistically. I loved every moment here.     Without a doubt this is the best property of Bentota. I had booked a suite room for us as it was our anniversary. 1. To start with the property - Ideally situated in the heart of Bentota with an excellent architecture having a serene and captivating view! 2. The staff - Every staff member we encountered, from the check- in to the cleaning staff were delightful and eager to help! Thank you for the exquisite food and special Biryani and Chicken curry -Chef Deepal De Alwis, Manager Mahesh for considerations and our special requests and complimentary beverages., At the Reception - Niroshan, Tanya and Janani for decorating and upgrading our room to pent house. 3. The room- The dreamy view one would always wish for when staying in a beach facing room. Panaromic view which faced the pool and the beach. The breezy winds and blessing of blooms could be witnessed from the room. 3. The food- Unmatched flavours of the continent and Lanka ! The taste lingers on till the next meal. Well prepared meals with beautiful presentation. The cozy restaurant has left the best impressions! Well, Hospitable hosts, delicious dishes, beautiful presentation, wide spread and wonderful dessert. We recommend it to everyone! I would like to come back here repeatedly!!!

    Our stay on the Yathra Houseboat will always stay in our minds and hearts. This is our second time within 3 years. We had a vacation of our life with all the comfort and pampering by the staff on the boat. The cruise on the river provided rare glimpse of few exotic birds and a large group of monkeys. The narrations by the Manager of the Dedduwa Boat House about those birds were very informative. The Skipper was kind enough to stop along the river bank to watch the birds closely and take photographs. The candle-lit dinner and the night spend on the upper deck was simply magical. The next day my husband even managed catch some fish while cruising. The staff arranged them to be prepared for our lunch and that dish was out of this world. The staff went an extra mile to make us happy. The bedrooms and the facilities on board were above standard. This is the best destination we spend while in Sri Lanka. Keep it up Yathra and we will back again next year.

    It's difficult to say anything in Particular. Everything was Excellent and met above expectations I would give 10 out of 10 for the Customer Service everyone in the hotel helped out of their way to make sure you were comfortable. The Room was quite spacious and very neat and clean. The jacuzzi in the room was excellent. Food Was Excellent whatever was on their menu. Can add a few more options in Starters and the main course in ala carte. I am not a person to give reviews in the forum but my stay here made me write this review as everything was to the dot perfect.

    All the staff were always smiling and friendly particularly the front of house staff. We always felt like we were the only guests there.They made us feel so special.When my daughter got sick staff went above and beyond to help and get a doctor and give advice. The rooms were kept spotless and the beds were comfy and cosy The view from the room was perfect. The food was delicious also.

    We did not venture into Bentota.

    We did not venture into Bentota. We are expats living in Colombo so no need to explore the city. The hotel was at the right spot for a 100% relaxing weekend away with no distractions. The ocean is not that swimmable as the sea was very rough and looked dangerous. The pool was a welcome alternative. We drove to Galle for the Saturday to watch the game between Springboks and Kiwis. That was not too far, one hour away and a very scenic route. The hotel was also fully booked so must be popular.

    Aluthgama is a reasonably quiet town,. İt offers a bustling shopping area with plenty of local shops that provide the necessities of life without the over abundance of tourist style outlets. Local transportation as in tuk tuk are plentiful and very cheap. İt is surrounded by beautiful open spaces showcasing the areas natural beauty. İt is however a two hour drive to Colombo airport.

    My favourite place was the turtle hatchery. Most meals were eaten at the Hotel. Very easy to get around. There is a tour agency opposite the hotel entrance, it cant get any better than that. It is easy to take tuk tuk or van taxis. Superior beach front view. Beautiful gardens and swimming pool. Well done to the management and staff for this top class facility. Local fishermen were easy to approach and social chat with.

    Not many food options in the area. Beach is okay not great. Ocean beyond the reef is very rough, no real swimming area. Area is also not very upscale, compared to other areas we have been to in sri lanka.

    Villa 252 Kosgoda, With its beautiful sandy beaches. Not too busy and very pleasant to stay and lots to do in the erea. A visit to the Galbokka Sea Turtle conservation is very worthwhile! Or a wonderful massage at the Aryuvedic center. Or take a boad safari at the Maduganga lake. The General Tsunami Photography Museum in Telwatta is a must see if you want to know more about this terrible event. From here a trip to the 'Ducht Fort' in Galle is also recommended. In short, Kosgoda is a beautiful place to start or end your Sri Lanka trip…

    Stayed at Thaala Bentota recently and had a pleasant experience. The location is excellent—right by the beach with easy and direct access, making it perfect for a relaxing getaway. The hotel itself is well-maintained with a calm and welcoming atmosphere. The breakfast buffet was a highlight, offering a good variety and fresh options. Dinner buffet had fewer choices in comparison, but the quality was still decent and satisfying for the price. Overall, a very good place to stay if you’re looking for beachfront accommodation with good service and a peaceful vibe.

    Ahungalla is a little village, hence to see places around you need bus or tuk tuk services, they run on main road all the time. We loved Bentota - a resort 20 min on a bus - it had calm beach and cafes to eat/drink around. Just outside Bentota there is village where you can get good shopping for clothes, gifts etc. Galle is 50min drive on a bus from Ahungalla. It's a lovely historic place to visit. We liked Ahungalla as it's less busy/noisy than other towns, and the villa we stayed was 5min walk to the beach. There is a good supermarket for basic items.

    Lovely place to relax. Large beach. Not many restaurants on the beach and not as populated with tourists as other areas we visited, but we loved spending time in Shah Shah's and found a sun bed to relax in with an umbrella. Also recommend Pier 88 to eat out in near by Aluthgama, lovely river views and good quality food. Also recommend Kandoori if you fancy a bit of Indian cuisine. We didn't do many day trips as we had already done some in Mirissa but we did do a boat safari that was pleasant enough. Great location if you want to be relatively near to Colombo and the airport. We mostly relaxed by the pool and had Ayurvedic massages so recommend finding a nice hotel with good facilities. Worth a visit.

    We stayed at Janus Paradise restaurant cabanas it was fabulous food was amazing lovely clean rooms , staff extremely helpful . Food was delicious, pool clean , we arrived during the Sri Lankan new year and was given a beautiful meal for breakfast , it was just lovely. Hotel owner Janus very nice and came to sit with us during our evening stay had a great laugh together what a wonderful host
