Our wallet was stolen on the first day we arrived luangprabang, we lost some Thai baht worth around usd500 not a big deal as we stopped our cards right away. The thing is if something happens to you, you got robbed/raped got sick or whatever unfortunate thing occur to you, never expect police or authorities to come to help you as there's no one willing to do the work. The friendliest, coolest place on Earth. There are plenty of places to go, to visit, to do. More importantly, it is a great place to just BE! A visit to Luang Prabang for me would be incomplete without at least a couple of visits to Big Brother Mouse where tourists can meet and chat with locals - English speaking practice for them, cultural learning for visitors! Mandalao Elephant Sanctuary is a great place to visit. For bars, restauants: I recommend the Rainforest Bistro and Bar, Khaippen Training Restaurant, Alounvasath Bakery Restaurant, the barbecue restaurant oppositive Wat Visoun and the B82.
