- From US$706.33 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 331 reviewsMy partner (now my wife) and I have always loved the view of the iconic torii gate in Miyajima. While looking for a highly rated hotel in the area, we came across ITSUKUSHIMA IROHA and decided it would be the perfect place to celebrate her birthday, and secretly, I was planning to propose to her on that special day. I initially reached out to the hotel just to ask if they offered any simple in-room proposal decorations. To my surprise, Haruka and Yuriko responded with so much enthusiasm and so many thoughtful ideas — from how to hide the ring box, to when they could prepare the room while we were out, to setting up a beautiful arrangement. On top of all that, they even upgraded our room as a surprise. It was all far more than I ever expected. A huge thank you to Haruka, Yuriko, and everyone at ITSUKUSHIMA IROHA. Your kindness, genuine warmth, and incredible attention to detail made this such an unforgettable experience for us. We’ll always remember how you helped us on one of the most important days of our lives — and we absolutely plan to come back. As for the hotel itself: the location couldn’t be better, just a short walk from Itsukushima Shrine. It means you can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and stunning views both early in the morning and later at night. Our room was elegantly designed, with top-quality amenities and one of the most comfortable beds we’ve ever slept on. And the meals — dinner and breakfast — were as delicious as they were beautifully presented. This is the most memorable and enjoyable hotel stay I’ve ever had. I wholeheartedly recommend ITSUKUSHIMA IROHA to anyone looking for a truly special, relaxing experience in Miyajima.Guest review by雍淵Taiwan
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 1,588 reviewsOur stay at this modern hotel on Miyajima Island was fantastic from start to finish. The room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable — a perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. Although the hotel is about a kilometer from the ferry terminal, they offer a free and very convenient transfer service, which made everything super easy. The location is excellent, just a short walk to the famous Itsukushima Shrine, the iconic torii gate, and also close to the ropeway up Mount Misen. We chose a plan with dinner and breakfast included, and the dining experience was truly exceptional — dinner was a beautifully presented multi-course fine dining experience, and breakfast was a traditional Japanese-style meal that we really enjoyed. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and check-in, check-out, and arranging the transfer were all effortless. The small public bath was a great way to relax, especially the outdoor section, which was tastefully decorated with plants and felt amazing on a chilly night after a day of hiking. Highly recommended for a peaceful and luxurious stay on Miyajima!Guest review byTomášCzech Republic
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 633 reviewsThe staff were lovely, welcoming and helpful. They speak English and were always happy to help you. All meals were rich and made with delicious local products. The staff gave thoughtful explanations regarding the culture and traditions surrounding each food we ate, and gave tips on how to best enjoy each dish. The room was comfortable and large, with all equipments perfectly functional. An excellent option to enjoy "traditional" Japanese hotels. I would definitely stay again at this hotel without hesitation.Guest review byVincentFrance
- From US$337.11 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.2Good - What previous guests thought, 944 reviewsThe hotel was expensive but offers a great experiment and the luxury to enjoy Miyajima on the evening, without the crow and enjoy the sunset and sunrise on the island. To room was huge and very clean, the bed very confortable. The hotel have a whole floor dedicated to well-being, with a salon, onsen, exterior pool, rock bath, karaoke room... That you can access anytime on the opening hour. They have also kimono at disposition at the entry, a little shop on the 1st floor.Guest review byBéatriceFrance
- From US$323.73 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.0Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,332 reviewsAmazing value for money. This hotel provides service above and beyond; with even small details like little cakes in your room and toothbrush provided. Don't believe the reviews saying English is not spoken. Just think of booking for the restaurant a few hours in advance with reception and if you need something a little shop sells drinks, beer and snacks. We had the Japanese dinner both nights and it was delicious (lots of food though). Highly recommend.Guest review byAnaisChile
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 2,199 reviewsBEST guesthouse in Japan, so far! Beautiful and huge spaces (collective kitchen, living room, entrance, big windows with view on the garden). The dormitory was super clean and well organized (just 4 beds). Possibility to privatize a "onsen" bath. Many books and games. Very kind and helpful welcoming (in English!). Good vibes! Perfect location. Totally worth it for 1 or 2 nights on Miyajima.Guest review byAgatheArgentina

It does get busy during the day when lots of tourists come over by ferry for the day however we hired bikes and managed to stay clear of the crowds for the most part. The Island becomes very quite in the evening which is perfect, I would advise that you book a restaurant as lots of the island closes around 5-6pm so anything that is open later gets booked up. We were very lucky to just get the last free table on two occasions. Also the deer wandering around especially in the dusk and evening before al the ferries drop off are enchanting, however they are not like the deer in Nara park and there are lots of signs that remind people not to feed or bother the deer, not everyone follows these rules which is disappointing.Guest review byDonnaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
It was my second trip to Miyajima island.
It was my second trip to Miyajima island. The first time I only travelled their with my wife and we did not stay in any accommodation. I left back on the ferry same day feeling that I had to eventually return. I was able to do that and I loved every moment. It's an island I would consider going back too again and staying over again. The island offers so much. For those that want heritage and history, tick. For those that want a close encounter with a deers, tick. For those who love calm beaches or mountains, tick. For those that want experiences with friendly locals, tick. Those wanting to do shopping, especially souveniours, tick. For those who want physical activity, the walking trails up the mountain are a definite tick. I could go on, but, for so many reasons I love and would highly recommend travel to Miyajima.Guest review byAdamAustralia - 10.0
Miyajima is simply magical!
Miyajima is simply magical! From the moment you step off the ferry, you’re surrounded by stunning natural beauty, peaceful shrines, and the famous floating torii gate—it truly feels like stepping into a sacred, timeless world. One of the most enchanting parts of the island was wandering through the smaller shrines tucked into the forest, where rows of little Buddha statues wear hand-knitted red hats and bibs. There’s something incredibly touching and serene about them—like the whole island is wrapped in quiet reverence. Add in the friendly deer, delicious street food (don’t miss the grilled oysters and momiji manju!), and the breathtaking views from Mount Misen, and Miyajima easily became one of our favorite places in Japan. I didn’t want to leave!Guest review byMichelleNew Zealand
