Brilliant location, unique and somewhat "old school" atmosphere in the building, staff was courteous and professional at all times. I was especially impressed with the careful attention to dietary requirements. We were greeted immediately with umbrellas and a smiley guest executive when we arrived at the hotel car park. We had a nice welcome drink and they made sure to give us a good introduction of the hotel facilities before we headed to our room. The receptionists were always ready to greet us with our keys when we arrived back at the hotel from touring the area. They have a beautifully maintained onsen (indoor and outdoor) with super silky waters that feel great on the skin. The rooms are quite spacious as well and they provide us these beautifully printed cookies of Arita porcelain designs in the room as well as green tea leaves as part of their service. We appreciated the nice hygiene amenities in the bathroom. The hotel is on a pretty steep hill so it is hidden away fr the Main Street but there are many eateries and tea shops within walking distance. Bonus - they are partnered with another nearby onsen hotel and we could use their onsen facilities for free as guests. We had a great time staying there.

It was an exceptional stay, and we thoroughly enjoyed the use of the space, combining both modern and traditional aesthetics. There were several little nooks that added surprise as we slowly discovered them at our own pace. We were delighted with the showcase of local ceramics and tea, and the welcome tea started us on our little tea journey, the start of a relaxing two days spent here. There was plenty of seating all around the ryokan, to relax, to wait, to medidate, to just stare into nature… A big thank you to all the staff we met, from the station pick up to the small conversations at breakfast. Looking forward to visit again at a different season to experience it anew.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay with the following highlights. From meeting us in the car park and parking our car for us to helping with the luggage to both rooms, the staff were all amazing and friendly. The rooms were excellent and we had an amazing view from our bigger family room. The Onsen was large and a spectacular view. The dinner option at the buffet was great value. Overall, if we were to visit again, we would choose the same rooms and stay for longer. A big thank you to the assistant in the shop who waited patiently for my partner to bring our passports after doing a random shop for gifts. 10 out of 10 for this amazing place in Nagasaki.

It’s an amazing place. Starting from the entrance with an artistic doors and walls long the escalator to bring us at the front desk. They have a large selection of yukatas, so you can chose the one you prefer. From the room with the view you can see the bay of Nagasaki. The onsen on the 3rd floor is lovely but the one on the 11th is amazing! It has a large pool outdoor from where you can see all over the city. If you stay at this hotel, you don’t need to go on the very top of the mountain. Both the dinner and the breakfast have an large buffet full of various exquisite food. They have a shuttle service to the station. Very happy with my staying.

Fukuoka is a great vacation location.

Fukuoka is a great vacation location. The pace is not as frantic as Tokyo or Osaka. It has its own character and charm. Nearby are day trips to other great locations like Nagasaki, Hiroshima, Takachiho, Saga City, etc. It is great for family as well. Locations like Lalaport and Canal City are attractions for mall strolling, shopping, and food. Food is great with the yatais and of course ramen.

I came for the One Piece statues but I honestly loved the entire vibe of Kumamoto. The transit system was easier to navigate than I expected, and locals were very nice in offering to take pictures of us at the statues! I was also really impressed with the Kumamoto revival project details and how they specifically placed the crew members in places that needed aid but were relevant to the character. As we traveled to each statue, I was amazed at how gorgeous Kumamoto was, like a scene out of a Studio Ghibli movie. It was magical and I wished I had planned to stay longer since I couldn't see all the statues.

Kagoshima in winter - Feb - can be very cold. Food here is great and the Satsuma Japanese wonderful. Black is a lucky color in Kagoshima thus the my son's Rebnise basketball team wears black at home games. Taxis are always available at stations and it is not far from anywhere. A day trip to Ibuski's sand baths is recommended - on fine days. Plenty of public natural mineral water onsens are available. Shiroyama's has a fantastic view .The ferry ride and Rainbow Onsen on Sakurajima is great.

We got one day pass for the buses. It was so easy and very convenient to go and see places. We explore the city by changing the buses. The places of interest were in walking distance from the bus stops; Peace Park, Urakami Catholic Church, Basilica OURA ( UNESCO ), Glover garden, Megane Bridge and much more. With the City bus you can not go outside the city.

Not a great deal to do or see in Oita. The castle ruins holds some interest. A very friendly man in a temporary office in the car park helpfully explained more about the castle and it's moats. Could use Oita as a base for visiting Beppu if you can't get accommodation there By train it's only 280 yen and 12 minutes away.

I'd strongly recommend taking the time to ensure that the accommodation you're booking is close enough to any specific areas you wish to visit. Saga itself, is simply a township without too many attractions other than a museum, a castle and a couple of short, pretty walks. If you want to see something further afield, such as Arita or Imari (located in the Saga region), be prepared for quite a bit of travel. Even places to stay near these areas are several kilometers away.
