- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.0Very good - What previous guests thought, 291 reviewsI had an emergency situation and found myself looking for a hotel at midnight. I was welcomed at Villa Colombia with a level of professionalism, discretion and politeness that is today hard to find. I ended up staying two days, the service was always great, the room was very comfortable and beautiful, the building is gorgeous and surrounded by trees and with two swimming pools to start or end the day with a quick plunge and some sun bathing.Guest review bySaraPortugal

I visited Pompeii in early October and whilst busy, I was reliably informed that it’s quiet compared to peak summer months. Definitely worth visiting and I’d recommend a guide if you can. So much to see and you should allow a good 3hrs+ to see the whole site. There’s a lot of walking to do and if you’re unsteady on your feet, that will limit some of the things you can see at the site. I’d also strongly recommend you take water with you. It’s hot work even in October. I also visited Herculaneum, which is much smaller but is in many ways, a better preserved site. You’ll see the second floor on many buildings. That said, you get a real feel for how big Pompeii was back in the day. Which is better? Pompeii for me based upon the sheer scale, variety of buildings and the wonder you get of how well developed the Romans were back in 79AD. I’d also say that the surroundings outside of the UNESCO World Heritage site are a whole lot better than Herculaneum.Guest review byMikeUnited Kingdom - 10.0

It’s not the most beautiful town but the view from our appartment had beautiful views of the bay of Naples for a lot less than you pay in Sorrento. It’s a very good spot to catch the train to Pompeii ( the ruins are right beside Pompeii Scavi station change at Torre de Annunziata) Sorrento, Vesuvius and the stunning Herculaneum. There are plenty of great places to eat and a few volcanic sand beaches to relax after a long walk up a volcano. We enjoyed our pizzas at RoVi and walked into Portici for drinks at Vivarium’s rooftop bar and a fantastic seafood tasting menu at Da Guisieppe al GranatelloGuest review byAnne-Marie - 8.0
The breakfast and dinners were very good.
The breakfast and dinners were very good. The hotel was very nice as well the pool. The location was also ideal for us, as it was easy to reach the city and other interested places e.g. Vesuvius, Pompei etc. There was even a direct boat to Capri daily.Guest review byMattiFinland - 8.0

It was close to a train line and it was easy to get to Naples. Also the location was good as it was in the middle and we could go to Naples and to Amalfi coast, Pompeii from here with little problem. The traffic in Naples is chaos so it was good that we could get there by train and then use the metro from there.Guest review byIgorSlovenia - 10.0
Torre AnnunziataIs a busy town with lots of good shops.
Torre AnnunziataIs a busy town with lots of good shops. We initially found driving around quite daunting until we understood the driving culture, then it was just fine. The shopping facilities were excellent, but its main advantage for us was its proximity to the archaeological sites.Guest review byColinUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Smallish town with magnificent church.
Smallish town with magnificent church. Lots of services available and in a strategically convenient location between Sorrento and Napoli. Long pedestrian only area. Fresh, very fresh food, OYSTERS, cheerful residents.Guest review byMargaret De GregorioItaly - 10.0
Great place for trips around.
Great place for trips around. Great transport accessibility by train to Naples, Pompeii, Herculaneum. It is a clean city according to local customs. There are many shops and services available. The location is very well accessible from the airport (by car 15 minutes, if there is no rush hour).Guest review byPavelCzech Republic - 8.0
This area was quite calm in comparison to Pompeii or Naples.
This area was quite calm in comparison to Pompeii or Naples. A big advantage are the views of the sea and the surrounding towns, and you can also see Mount Vesuvius. The roads were broken in places and very dirty full of rubbish, which is typical of all the nearby towns. For traveling with a smaller car it is OK, with a bigger car I would be afraid of the narrows and wild traffic.Guest review byAlesCzech Republic - 10.0
The area was great.
The area was great. We walked into the centre one lunch time, unfortunately there wasn't really a restaurant open for lunch so we ended up driving elsewhere but this wasn't a problem. The church is beautiful and the roundabout is a real meeting point. The police station was very helpful and there's a lovely few murals around. There's a good mix of shops and nonna's local shop for bread and water etc is fantastic. She's so friendly and the sort of genuine local you would expect. That I love. We really used this as a base because of its great location and we could drive in all directions to visit things. Local restaurant in the evening had amazing service and specialised in home reared meat and dairy products. The butter was exceptional. Lovely town with great resturants and the Archaeological site of Pompeii , plus 3 train stations which allowed travel to Herculaneum, Sorrento, Naples and Salerno and the Amalfi Coast. A great central location. We used the beaches at Vico Esquerence as they were a lot cleaner that those at Castlemmare Di Stabi, but we did food shopping at Lidl there and the shopping Center in Pompeii was a treat.Guest review bySarah Blewer-BurmanUnited Kingdom
