Super friendly staff, from the welcoming receptionist to the serving staff at breakfast- all very friendly and helpful. Room was excellent, with generous space and lovely ensuite. Location in the middle of Carrickmacross was perfect. Breakfast choices very good and food lovely. A wonderful stay...we will return.

This was an amazing hotel! Perfect location for our needs, right in town and next door to a fantastic pub "The Squealing Pig" where our event was taking place and not far from our family gathering in Rockcorry. (BTW the Squealing Pig was very accomodating to our very Vegan daughter and her infant son); The staff at the hotel was pleasant and accomodating. The breakfast was fantastic with a full menu of options The town has a nice mall and shopping options; we had our laundry done down the street and back the same day if you get it there early. The Monaghan Museum was fantastic (they are moving to a new location down the street. The restaurants were great and we especially were impressed with 'Eastern Balti House' with the best service and great food!

Breakfast was outstanding with lots of variety. Theresa was very accommodating and picked us up by car and shuttled us back and forth to Monaghan where we had scheduled a plant visit at CombiLift. We had a delightful time with her and the owner of the home where she is running the B&B. The view from our window overlooked the lake and we were overwhelmed by the beautiful landscape. We would highly recommend staying at this location if someone is looking for a unique experience. Nothing like Irish hospitality.

Maureen is a perfect host, absolutely delightful and kind, she even suggested an activity for us for the morning. We loved our stay even if it was just for one night. The beds are super comfortable and the breakfast was delicious, exactly as we asked. We will be back, for sure.

Cosy and welcoming B&B with spacious and well-equipped rooms, very clean and with proper showers. Quick replies to messages, early check-in possible and the friendliest lady at reception, who patiently answered all my questions and offered some advice for a short stay quiet Monday night. Wonderful breakfast with a lot of choices from cereal, fruit and yogurt to full Irish. Living room for the use of guests with books to read and a furry fella to keep you company.

Everything about this property is fabulous. Tucked away down country lanes , set on a river. Our welcome was warm and genuine. We found all the staff to be polite and friendly even though they were dealing with a roomful of people. We liked the food so much we had lunch, dinner and breakfast here. Definitely worth a detour.

The people on the street actually speak to you when they meet you. It's a very relaxing town, where one can switch off. There's a pub/restaurant called The Squealing Pig. The staff were lovely, and the food was fabulous. My one regret is not going inside a local cathedral which was massive, gothic in style and gorgeous from the outside. The external architecture was a wow, but didn't have time to see it internally.

There is very little in Clones but we were there to visit friends. You can eat in the Creighton Hotel in Clones but it wasn't great. We found a lovely pub restaurant in Belturbet called the Seven Horseshoes. If you want to trace your Irish ancestry the library in Clones has an excellent genealogy section and staff to help

Monaghan town seems to have no real focal centre but this doesn't stop it from being a warm and interesting place to stay for a few days. I suggest a visit to the County Museum first in its brilliant new home. The present displays give you a feel for the region and the peoples over centuries as they lived and live their lives in a genuine "borderland". Congratulations to the Museum curators. Such a visit will stand you in good stead to enjoy the friendly population and their places of hospitality and their ways of life in their almost unique county.

A town not too far from Dublin airport and within easy distance to Co Tyrone ,Northern Ireland. The locals very very friendly and the local pubs were traditional , well at least the ones I went into. YES the Guinness does taste different to the British variety .Ireland in common with most places these days is not a cheap place ,indeed the price of property is on par with England as opposed to a few years when it was dirt cheap. Roads generally in good repair , the main ones , the side roads can be problematic.

They have 2 big aggressive dogs and one of them attacked my wife. We was scared to go out or come to the property. Very bad experience! The living room and kitchen was located. No tea or coffee in the room ! For this money I can get much better place! Online pictures are lie ! It's a old house and not comfortable..I mean ugly inside... On the breakfast was a problem to get tea and coffee ... Breakfast was not that good ! JUST BAD EXPERIENCE!

Monaghan is great - a relatively undiscovered part of Ireland and as such a hidden gem, with a broad range of walking/hiking options and quite some historically important sites, also with castles, gardens, parks and lakes. County Monaghan has got it all.
