- From US$269.25 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 172 reviewsEverything. This is the first time in many years that I can say I loved everything: location, food, room and above all the people. They are kind, friendly and keen to look after you. As this was my solo trip abd without car, I was apprenhensive that I may not be able to see things around. But Andrea made sure I do. Wilma took me to Eshaness and Stenness in her car and oh, what a place. Breathtaking. We also went to the fire festival which was held for the Tall ships race and experienced the Vikings in full swing. Shetland and mote specifically St. Magnus made my stay worthwhile. Thank you so much.Guest review bypapiaIndia

This was a great place to explore Shetland from.
This was a great place to explore Shetland from. But important to have a hire car, to get to all the different sights, and booking restaurants in advance is important, even if it's just for the following night, although the takeaways were a great backup.Guest review byMinkAustralia - 10.0

i was quite shocked at how little shops and restaurants were on the island, we did go on the 28th December until 2nd January and the majority of the shops in Lerwick (the capital of Shetlands) were closed until 6th January, there were very limited restaurants open, so cooked at home in the lovely rental property that we had. There were 2 pubs (but not what you would expect as pubs) in Brae and a CO-OP and a leisure centre, thankfully the CO-OP was open all the time, and there was a Chinese take away that was open and a fish and chip shop that was closed. The pace of life is slow, if you don't mind cooking for yourself, its a great place to go, if you like eating out, then its 23 minute drive to Lerwick........but remember Scotland has a ZERO TOLERANCE to drink driving, so NO ALCOHOL and driving what's so ever, so you always need a nominated driver or Taxi, which would be tricky i would expect. Overal a nice chilled out trip, although if the property wasn't as good as it was, you could be counting down the days in the winter monthsGuest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Scalloway is a great wee place.
Scalloway is a great wee place. Stunning views and excellent coffee shops. Had breakfast in cafe - so helpful and lush food. The shop, chemist, and cafe, views over the harbour and people friendly. Definitely worth visiting.Guest review byjeanUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A lovely base for some bracing walks around the lochs & voes with a excellent choice of buses too taking one to Lerwick & south to Sumburgh or North to the Northern Isles or the wonderful windswept wilderness of Eshaness, home to moonwalking Shetland ponies. You’ll have to ask your cab driver about that!Guest review byPaula GriffinUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Great access to Muckle Roe, must see destination; lovely home cooking with farm fresh ingrediends (the lamb is a must); generous size, renovated room with modern bathroom; reliable regular bus service to other places in Shetland for those with backpacks, the isolation from town is a bonus, so relaxing; helpful and friendly serviceGuest review bySmithAustralia - 10.0

The hotel is in North Maven, the most northerly and wildest part of the mainland of Shetland but, as the island is relatively small, easy to reach from either Lerwick or Sumburgh Airport. Main roads in Shetland are of a high standard and the single track roads to more remote parts add to the excitement! Impressive sights include Mavis Grind, where, it is said, a stone can be thrown from the North Sea to the Atlantic. The rugged cliffs of Eshaness and must be wonderful in wild weather and do'nt miss the chance ot visit North Roe and Sand VoeGuest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Its lovely little village, about 10 miles from Lerwick. It has lots of walking paths and great view of the ocean. Close to lovely beach with white sand. There is a little shop not far away from property. Very friendly neighbourhood.Guest review byAnonymous - 4.0
Parking was easy. View of the water.
Parking was easy. View of the water. Inadequately heated - very cold. Refrig and micro dirty, soiled frying pan. Poor communications from owner. After informing him of the above he left and never came back. I left after 1 night of an expected 4 night booking. A disappointing experience. I slept in my clothes and coat to stay warm.Guest review bymaryUnited States - 8.0
Lot of small businesses have closed. Still interesting!
Lot of small businesses have closed. Still interesting! Quirky shops not found elsewhere. Nice eateries. Harbour area interesting. Da Lodberries iconic . Many parts identifiable from Shetland TV series. Great textile museum featuring amazing skills of knitters. Main museum remarkable given its size. Mareel has good films.Guest review bymaryUnited Kingdom - 6.0

Twin room, bed comfortable pillows fabulous, warm, very very basic. Poor pressure on hot water, very small towels absolutely no frills at all. Breakfast options many if you like fried English breakfast, we didn't and we're told we couldn't have poached egg nor scrambled. Had the fried English options only once as tasteless, could do much better here. Suggest: providing free toiletries, upgrading to Andrex or Cushelle, providing large bath towels, improving hanger situation very old fashioned, and buying better ingredients and cooking less rather than piling on the fry up so a better start to the day, we didn't bother with breakfast after the first one. Evening meals weren't impressive either, though last night better than had been. Fish and chips across the road is a must. Missing lots of opportunities to upgrade.Guest review byMaureenUnited Kingdom
