- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 915 reviewsThe hotel is in the centre of Castellane. It’s very convenient for several bars and restaurants and is a great base from which to tour the magnificent Gorge du Verdon. The staff here are welcoming and friendly. Rooms are a good size, clean and comfortable. Restaurant is excellent for dinner and for breakfast where there’s a great selection available. The hotel is motorbike friendly with secure overnight parking and they even have a basket of ‘help-yourself’ rags at the bottom of the stairs.Guest review byTrevorUnited Kingdom
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very good - What previous guests thought, 747 reviewsCamping located in walking distance to town centre, great views of the mountains around. Tent was much more comfortable than I imagined. Warm duvet so I didn't get cold at night ;) electricity, lighting, fridge, basic kitchen stuff, even a hot plate. Porch outside a tent was very nice, I wish I had more time there to really enjoy! Facilities were surprisingly clean, I was amazed.Guest review byAnnaPoland

Gap is a lovely place, but I would never - ever - recommend the Hôtel Restaurant Pavillon Carina to ANYONE. It is almost 4 weeks since they ruined our overnight stay there and we had to find emergency accommodation elsewhere. We are still waiting for full compensation and refund and neither they or Booking.com have been any help WHATSOEVER.Guest review byPeterHungary - 4.0
We didn't like Grasse.
We didn't like Grasse. The old town was seedy and felt unsafe at night. During the day my husband and I took a walk around the town. We came across a very large square that was filled with only men - not a woman in sight. When we walked into the square, they all stopped and looked at me as if to say 'What is a woman doing here?'. It was very strange to experience this in France. At night we chose to stay in and cook rather than go to a restaurant simply because it did not feel safe.Guest review byStephanieFrance - 10.0

I came to Digne because of its higher altitude hoping to be a few degrees cooler than other parts of southern France and also the lure of thermal baths. The baths have modern facilities and are a short bus ride out of town and are very clean with good attention paid to hygiene. They have good changing booths and security for belongings. The baths are closed only on Tuesdays. The New Saigon buffet restaurant is very good value. Digne has some interesting old streets to explore. The narrow guage train is a lovely scenic trip down to Nice.Guest review byKathyArgentina - 10.0

Sisteron is in an amazing location - it really *is* the border of provence, and is quite visible in the vegetation, for example. The Citadelle itself is amazing, and well worth the visit (in spite of the number of steps for a lot of viewing). And for those of you who are vegetarian or vegan, Sisteron is lucky to have "O végé du Coin", where the organic food is innovative, and a real pleasure.Guest review byfrancoisSwitzerland - 8.0
This is a nice, typical small town of the South of France.
This is a nice, typical small town of the South of France. When we were there, it was the open air market, it was quite packed with tourists. We would have probably enjoyed the town itself more with less people, but at the same time it was a great atmosphere.Guest review byMathiasSwitzerland - 2.0

The furniture, decoration is from 1970.. Very worn, soiled and missing owner's hand. No soundproofing!!!! Also - you see only inner courtyard. The panoramic view from the restaurant or the helpfulness of the staff do not make up for the fundamental shortcomings of this hole.Guest review byTomasFrance - 10.0

A great little French village with two good hotels and the excellent Cafe Napoleon. The locals are all so friendly; English language varies but with pigeon French you will get by easily. There's even a local cricket club if that is your thing. Transport is easy from the coast as there is a direct bus or a taxi will cost about 40 euros from the nearest train station. If you like walking then there are some amazing hills which are often the site for seeing hundreds of parasailers and the odd confused buzzard. If you have a couple of days to chill away from the Riviera then this is a great choice. A final word of warning... do not book the property called "Maisonnette en résidence avec piscine et tennis" as it is awful and does not look anything like the Booking.com photos and the owner will refuse any refunds point blank.Guest review byMattUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Very original town, but doesn’t have to offer “tremendous”history (there are better places nearby). BUT if you want to walk around for 2 hours in tiny streets with adorable houses and many details, learn something about the town, its history and people as well as enjoying fantastic (breathtaking) views. And after that want to have a drink with your family before going to dinner in one of the many restaurants, then it is a must place to visit.Guest review byOliverSwitzerland - 10.0

It's a charming town with narrow hilly streets. Enjoyed La Citadelle visit - the views from there are fantastic. The best restaurant we can recommend is L'Oppidum - we ended up eating there 3 times (2 lunches and dinner) during our 3-day trip. The other good restaurant was Brassero near the cathedral. There is a very good gift shop "La Taste".Guest review byVictoriaUnited Kingdom
