Teranka is a gem perfectly nested in the beautiful tiara of Formentera. The island, its nature, its people, its peace, is out of discussion and at disposal of anyone who needs a relaxing escape but Teranka is able to add something else to this experience, something that made our stay in Formentera just perfect. Being a boutique hotel, the building is not huge (and thanks to this its perfectly blended in the gorgeous Mediterranean flora) but the rooms, the patio, the pool (😍), the balcony, the rooftop with the Nobu restaurant, the food, the wonderful staff, the little road to the sea … everything is just perfect and smooth. When I’ll be back to Formentera I will for sure come back to Teranka..

This is not just a hotel... it is one of the best places we stayed in ! Do not hesitate for this... you are on a very secluded area of Formentera, you have bikes (electric as well) at you disponibility (not after sunset though because it is totally dark around you), you are at approx 500 m from very nice beaches and you can walk further to the beach bars. We had dinner in the restaurant of the hotel, it was of course end of May so not crowded, but what a supper we had with langoust and saffron... and then dessert. The personnel is genuinly proud to serve you and the hotel has a relax feeling. The garden is well maintained with a hot tub and beds, and the seating areas are wonderfully decorated. Breakfast ? Tortilla with truffle, mango juice, pancakes, different cheeses, fruits, carrot cake and every day other types... we miss it so much! The room was an appartment, daily cleaned, with a separate bedroom overlooking the swimming pool.

FAQs about hotels on Formentera

Waiting to be discovered

The smallest of the main Balearic Islands, Formentera is more laidback and, on the whole, less touristy than its bigger neighbours. It doesn’t have an airport, so most arrivals are via ferry from Ibiza Town or Denia on the Costa Blanca. Unlike the other Balearics, it is largely flat, making it good for cycling and hiking. However, it does still have the beautiful beaches, craggy coves and crystal clear waters so typical of this island group. Another contrast is Formentera’s liberal policy on nude sunbathing - it is allowed on many beaches. One of the longest beaches is at Platja de Migjorn where the white sands shelve gently into the sea. On the other side of this stretch of land is Es Caló where most Formentera apartments by the beach are found. The sand dunes at Es Pujols are also fantastic, and just inland is Estanh Pudent a large lagoon that attracts rich birdlife. On the other side of the lagoon is La Savina, arrival point for the ferries and a good starting point for Formentera sailing trips. The capital Sant Francesc Xavier has a whitewashed, 18th-century church at its centre and a few Formentera hotels with pools on Booking.com.

    Good location of the hotel by the beautiful beach. Dinner at sunset with delicious food on the beautiful terrace is an experience. The attention of the staff including reception, rooms and bar staff is worth it. 10/10 for Samira (thank you) 😊 Breakfast ‘a la carte’ and served at the table is nice. The rooms are small but suitable and clean for a short stay. We really enjoyed our stay at Maysi. 100% recommend!

    This was one of my favourite stays I've ever had anywhere in the world. Stayed on my own, late in the season, stunning views, lovely food, staff were super friendly and kind to me as I was on my own and most the cliental were families or couples. Easy access to the rest of the island by car, moped or cycle- everything within 10-15 minutes drive. If you want best value for money choose the bars and restaurants away from the beachfront.

    Playa Mjgjorn is a long stretch of beach, some bits wider and better than others. I'd tend to stick to properties to the west of the south coast for best beach option and access. It's a lovely spot and if you have transportation you can get around easily. Number L2 bus serves Ca Mari well. Great sunsets, and some nice little beach bars dotted around. Limited vegetarian options throughout!

    San Ferrán de ses Roques is a hidden gem in the heart of Formentera, perfect for those who want to discover the island's authentic soul. It’s a welcoming and peaceful village, yet full of life, especially in the evenings when the streets come alive with locals and tourists mingling in bars and restaurants. One of the things I appreciated most is the relaxed and genuine atmosphere. You can find artisan markets here, with local artists displaying their creations, and small cafés where you can stop for a coffee or a beer. San Ferrán has preserved its authenticity, far from mass tourism, offering a much more laid-back experience compared to the busier areas of the island. As for the food, the village restaurants serve delicious dishes, many based on fresh seafood and local products. I highly recommend trying the tapas at one of the traditional restaurants: simple yet flavorful, they’ll make you feel like a true islander. Additionally, its central location makes San Ferrán an ideal base for exploring Formentera: within a few minutes by scooter or bike, you can reach the most beautiful beaches and interesting spots on the island.     Quiet area but a lovely hotel and exactly what we were looking for. A 15 minute taxi from the main port and the bars and restaurants in es Pujols. You can get to anywhere on the island within 20 minutes. Although we had no issue with getting taxis, if we go again we will definitely hire a scooter to get round the island more easily. We ate at the hotel Cala Soana restaurant one night (incredible) and the other we went in to Es Pujols. There are lots of great restaurants along the front and some cheaper ones a few streets back from the coast if you’d prefer

    Es Pujols is a bustling town with a very good selection of shops and eating places. It has probably tripled in size since I first visited in 1984. There are market stalls at the beachfront every evening in the high season. Some of the restaurants are very expensive and over priced, but some of the more traditional restaurants are more reasonable. I would avoid staying right in the centre of the town as it could be noisy.

    4 stars, really.

    4 stars, really. It’s more like 1 1/2 to 2 stars hotel at best. The costs for what you get is way to exagerated. I have no problem at all to pay for something, but this was by far the worst experience i got for what i payed for. To sum it up: beach mediocre with alot of alges, rooms at best 2 star level, food expect the cheapest things you can buy for money, that’s the quality of food. Reception is a nightmare! Good things: animation is doing their best and it’s ok… and at least the staff is cleaning every day. Save your money, you get alot of better hotel around the world for this price. Way to overrated and too expensive.

    We have been to the island on at least 20 previous visit and know that Es Pujols is the most touristy place on Formentera, but it has a real charm, is great for children and a really good place to base yourself if you visit the island.

    Playa Migjorn is a stunning beach with so many different contrasts. At the hotel it was very calm with some rocks and clear but further along just cristal clear then at the top end more wild and rocky but with clear water. The beach bars are all so different, our favourite Kiosko 62 is on the beach with cristal clear water and not such a busy part of the beach. Stunning sunsets and some boating activity. Views from the hotel bar and restaurant were stunning.
