We had cycled 170km from Briare in very high temperatures which set our expected arrival time back a few hours and our hosts were very understanding. Upon arrival in Diou (it was a Monday evening around 6pm) nothing in the village was open and our hosts drove to a neighbouring village to pick up a couple of pizzas for us. We are eternally grateful! We couldn't ask for more. The accommodation it's self was a self contained annex within the grounds of the main house. It was very clean and tidy and had everything we needed including facilities to wash our cycling clothes. We had a lovely evening sat outside eating our pizza in beautiful surroundings. We fully recommend Petit Mas Cosy if you are in the area but please note Diou is a small village and food outlets might be closed on certain days. (I think this goes for many villages in central France during the summer months)

The house of Madame Colette and Monsieur Alain is wonderful! Everything is clean, comfortable, the placement is perfect, Lapalisse is a beautiful town. But! This is not all these advantages that made this place so unique. This are the hosts who make it absolutely a wonderful place. They are kind, helpful and open-hearted. Our car have broke down and we needed to find a shelter for one night and when we arrived at Collete Alain Maxime, I am pretty sure we looked like drowned rats. They did not only give us shelter, fed us, but also helped to find a mechanic. Honestly? I was feeling not like in a hotel with strangers, but like in a family. Madame Colette speaks English quite well too, so if don't know a word in French and you are searching for a cozy place with wonderful staff - this is a place for you

Where do I start, this was our dream to stay in a French chateau, & it far surpassed my expectations. It is sat deep in the countryside & is so peaceful, there are some beautiful grounds & outdoor pool & inside it oozes character and charm. We stayed in an amazing large bedroom named Gothic (I think)with a great shower in the bathroom & big solid wooden furniture. It’s was perfect & we wish we had booked more than just the one night. The ground floor has a very large lounge & dining room where breakfast is served & there was no shortage of food. The host, Nicholas, is charming & we wish we had been able to thank him for his hospitality during our stay, we would both come back here without hesitation.
