Everything was so excellent😊😊😊. The place is very convinient to the old city only by walking. It is also easy to get taxi and not far from the train stations. The host was very friendly and helpful. She tried to speak with me in both English abd Chinese so i can practise my Chinese.😊 Im happy to find such a good place for my trip.😊

Amazing location, right in the center of ancient town of Pingyao but still very quiet. The room is very beautiful, clean and there is all you need for a comfortable stay. Ji is amazing. I highly recommend a short or longer stay at the Ji Family Courtyard Inn.

I really made the right choice with this homestay in Pingyao! The location is absolutely a hidden gem—just a two-minute walk gets you to Rishengchang Bank, so there’s no need to get up early to soak in the Jin merchant culture. It’s super convenient to head back for a break after visiting the attractions. What’s more, the surrounding area is bustling with life. When you stroll out in the evening, the lanterns light up, and old shops and street food stalls are right in front of you, full of that lively, authentic vibe. No need to hunt for places to eat; just step into any spot, and it’s sure to be delicious. The biggest surprise, though, is the service here—they truly take care of every little detail. When I checked in, the owner warmly introduced local attractions, even telling me which shop has the most authentic Pingyao beef and the best time to visit Rishengchang to avoid crowds. That kind of thoughtful care makes the whole trip feel so warm. I’ll definitely stay here again when I come back to Pingyao. Great location, amazing atmosphere, and service that’s second to none—highly recommended!

Staff is incredibly helpful and goes above and beyond despite the language barrier. Very nice room, full of any kind of amenity. The hotel itself is gorgeous with a beautiful courtyard.

The location is really nice, in the old city. The staff was amazing, very helpful and nice, made us feel at home. The room was clean and confortable. Breakfast was also good, american style.

Set in Pingyao in the Shanxi Region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Xiangshengyuan Hostel features a terrace and views of the city. This is a family-run hotel with the whole family pitching in. They were delightful and keen to be helpful with lots of cups of tea, advice and assistance with purchasing tickets. It felt like I was staying with friends. Very little english, but fearless with using translation apps. Very thoughtful - gave me a bottle of water for the train home after dropping me at the station. The standout for this property was the staff. I wish them every success with their business.

The host is incredible, going out of her way to make certain guests are cared for. She helped us know where to visit in the expansive area is Wutai mountain. When we had trouble with entrance into the resort area, she came to the front to help us work through the registration difficulties; we asked about seeing a sun rise and she arranged a trip the took us to a gorgeous pilgrimage site; she arranged a shuttle service that took us directly to the airport for a lower cost than bus service and taking 3 hours less time - really a remarkable host. Meanwhile she’s also hosting other guests and running the restaurant. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and adorable with a beautiful tea table set in a window. The room was always ready with water, snacks and tea. Staying at this location allowed us to enjoy the area of Wutai mountain to the fullest extent possible.

Offering Chinese and Western food on site, Pingyao Harmony Hotel features well-decorated guestrooms and simple dormitory rooms for guests. This is an awesome place to fully immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the ancient city of Pingyao! The location is very convenient. Inside the old town, but you can walk from the North gate in 10 minutes or less. That being said, the hotel staff really does speak English, which will make things much easier during your stay. For example, this hotel was very helpful in organizing one-day-trips out of the town, it took literally 5 minutes to coordinate with the hostess the route and start time we needed. We had a spacious room on the second floor with three beds. I think it is quieter than the first floor rooms. There are a lot of guests and visitors, there is still someone running around in the courtyards on the first floor in the evenings, but our upstairs hallway was very quiet. The room has slippers, kettle and cups, drinking water, which is replenished every day, shower gel and shampoo. The bed linen and towels are clean, the room is cleaned every day. There were no questions about water supply and sewerage, everything works normally. There is also a good number of European-style electrical outlets. WiFi was very good as well. The hotel serves a very varied breakfast. There is a Chinese-style breakfast in buffet form. For guests unaccustomed to such dishes, there is an additional menu with an excellent choice. (Actually, this is why the hotel does not include breakfast in the room rate in advance. You can choose different options at different prices.) You will also be served tea and coffee in the format we are used to at breakfast. Very comfortable. There are probably a lot of pictures here already, but I'll give in to temptation and attach a couple of my own. There is also a “Switzerland-breakfast" on my picture.
