It was great, even so my Spanish ain’t great the host was super friendly and like to talk and help wherever he could. The house is amazing, it’s a family house, spacious and you feel like being a friend at someone’s home and not stranger in a hotel!

This property is within walking distance to San Juan de Oriente and Catarina where there is much to see and do if you are a creative traveller or on a walking holiday that passes nearby. This family of artists are simply wonderful; they went out of their way to make my stay as a solo traveller more enjoyable, introducing me to the fruits i brought in the local town and even showing me some ancient stone carvings in their local woodland. The accommodation offers excellent value for money and i enjoyed a wonderful ceramics lesson with a master ceramicist. Here you can enjoy an authentic Nicaraguan experience in terms of the surrounding environment whilst feeling safe, and knowing your hosts are trying to improve their local environment. Fall asleep listening to sounds of the forest and wake up to watch monkeys in the trees.

This place is a DREAM. We have visited Laguna de Apoyo a few times in the past, and have stayed in different hotels. San Simian was a lot better than the others. It had access to everything we needed, AND it was a lot more quiet, it had lots of shade and beautiful gardens. There is a hike to the Catarina Mirador 100 m away from the hotel, which was a bonus. You wake up every morning with the sounds of monkeys, birds, squirrels and a beautiful view of the water. You can order a coffee thermos and have it ready for you when you wake up in the morning, before breakfast, so you can enjoy it in your room or in the hammock outside your room, or by the lake. The shower in the cabin we stayed in was open concept. What a lovely experience to take a shower under the stars! There is always warm water, which is a plus in Nicaragua The food is delicious, the staff are friendly and extremely helpful. Daniel, the server is always ready to help with whatever you need. Daniel, the owner is amazing, He has lots of great information about the area, and about other places to stay in Nicaragua. He is always making sure that you are well taken care of, and he takes great care of his staff. We are already planning out next stay at San Simian. Can't recommend it enough!

By far the best stay in whole Central America! Very clean, nice big pool, how water though out the whole day. The breakfast was amazing with fresh baked French bread every single day! But the best thing about this place are the hosts. We felt right at home, very friendly and helpful. We really can’t explain how lovely they were. (The location is very close to the laguna but taking a taxi is cheap and easy so it’s worth it).

With mountain views, Mombacho Lodge is situated in Granada and has a restaurant, free shuttle service, bar, garden and terrace. The lodge features both WiFi and private parking free of charge.

The host and owner of the lodge Nicolas is very nice and helpful with organizing hikes on Mombacho volcano. The lodge is truly in the midst of the Mombacho Reserve - we were able to observe a sloth for several days as well as howler monkey every day - and offers a great view from a tree platform and has a really nice space to stay and relax. The food is very good as well.

We stayed here for six nights while doing a Spanish School. Great location in the centre of town and close to the bus station. Room was very clean, spacious and the A/C was a big plus. Gerry and staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast included is very tasty pancakes, fruit and toast. We loved our stay here and will be back.

We had a great stay at Casa Bubu with Yves, the owner, who alongside his staff went above and beyond to make sure our every need was exceeded. Wholesome full breakfasts, working AC, hot water, refreshing clean pool, comfortable bed, laundry service, welcome treats and drink…to name a few of the things that set Bubu above the rest. Lovely atmosphere, tasteful decor, beautiful architecture and design. Great spot to rest, refresh, hike and explore the city on your doorstep. We will certainly be back if we find ourselves traveling in Nica again. Already missing Gref! (the aqua cat)
