Blair and Margaret’s charming bed & breakfast is set in a peaceful, cozy location, conveniently close to Bowmore, making it an ideal base for exploring the island. Their directions to the property were clear, and it’s just as easy to find by simply entering the name into Google Maps. The house is immaculate, tastefully decorated, and exceptionally well maintained. Every detail is thoughtfully considered to ensure comfort, and the tranquil surroundings guarantee a restful night’s sleep. What truly sets Kilmeny apart is the warmth and hospitality of its hosts. Margaret welcomed us with genuine kindness and had arranged homemade cake and a dram of whisky for our arrival—a thoughtful gesture that made us feel instantly at home. Breakfast each morning was a delight: from the full Scottish breakfast and overnight oats prepared by Margaret, to Blair’s freshly brewed coffee and crisp toast. Margaret even remembered a passing mention of clotted cream and prepared it specially to accompany the scones—a gesture that spoke volumes about their care for guests. When I requested a firmer pillow, it was provided without hesitation. Every interaction reflected sincere warmth and attentiveness. The hosts struck the perfect balance—thoughtful, while never intrusive. Their hospitality made our stay not just comfortable, but truly memorable. I would wholeheartedly recommend Kilmeny, not only for its beautiful property and ideal location, but above all for the exceptional service. Thank you, Blair and Margaret, for making our stay so special. Your B&B will undoubtedly be my first choice when I return to Islay.

Port Charlotte Hotel is located in Port Charlotte on the shore of Loch Indaal. The conservatory and gardens open onto a sandy beach. Great views of the bay from our room. Friendly and helpful staff.

Located in Port Ellen, No. 1 Charlotte Street has a garden, shared lounge, bar, and free WiFi. The rooms in the hotel are fitted with a coffee machine. Fantastic cooked breakfast, you won’t be hungry when you leave the breakfast room! The location by the bay is very good, with a pub just next door and two restaurants not far.
