Featuring an outdoor pool, Shakespeare Motel is centrally located just a 5-minute walk from Mackay Entertainment and Convention Center. Such a nice little place. Really good Aircon, pool, and value for money. The staff were so friendly and down to earth and you could tell they really enjoyed having a good chat rather than the regular reception or hotel talk. Really would recommend to any backpacker, couple, solo traveller, or family for staying in or passing through Mackay.

Alara Motor Inn is a 4-star motel situated on the Bruce Highway in Mackay and features a licensed restaurant. It is 5 minutes' drive from Mackay's town centre, Mackay Airport, beaches and amenities. I love the level of effort they go to for pets. Providing cleaning products for any accidents, Treats and a bowl of water. Rooms are clean and the large carport is wonderful for those very hot or, in our case, very very wet day.

The nicest staff (owners) ever,, very practical location for travelers doing the long drives. Comfortable beds, heating, cleanliness, general maintenance of the grounds. There is a gas station very near, open 24/7 offering food around the corner. I really did not expect a motel to be on this high level. Loved it!
