I loved the staff there, very helpful and very kind. The breakfast was also wonderful! We're both a bit picky, so I am always unsure whether or not paying for breakfast upfront is worth it, but the variety and quality definitely made it worth it in my opinion. The location of the hotel is also pretty convenient, in that we had no trouble walking everywhere. We were in close walking distance to the market, the castle and the garden.

The location was great, next to the market, close to the station, we tool a taxi from the station and next day walked to get a renta car, the personnel was so kind, we were able to store the luggage, the onsen was great and it is open until 1. 00 and opens at 5.00. The beds were so comfortable. We wished we could stay longer but had plans in advance. The price was very good, we booked the room a couple of months ago. We recommend this 100%.

The coffee was great and the room was super clean.

Residence Hotel Takayama Station is situated conveniently in the centre of Takayama, and offers a fitness centre, free WiFi and a terrace. This 4-star hotel offers luggage storage space. Private parking is available on site. Location: right next to the station, literally. Couldn't be easier. Takayama isn't that big, so you're already within walking distance of all the main attractions and many places to eat. Facilities: my room had a more or less full size kitchen, a huge refrigerator, a washing machine and multiple trash cans. This was easily the most complete hotel room of my entire stay in Japan. There is a pretty big balcony that you can access by way of sliding doors. And there is also a sliding mosquito screen to keep out bugs. Perfect! What I like about the building: While this hotel only has 1 elevator for like 10 floors, there is an open stairway inside the building that you can use. It is not limited to emergencies only. I have gratefully made use of this when I wanted to leave the hotel but there was an entire family with suitcases waiting for the elevator. Another big plus, the hotel has a secondary entrance/exit, so you don't have to pass reception when you want to get in or out of the hotel.
