Offering a barbecue and sun terrace, Sigiriya Water Cottage is set in Sigiriya, 3.4 km from Sigiriya Rock. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant. Loved this this laid-back place, just outside Sigiriya. The family helped us arrange a tuktuk in the early hours for the hike up Pidurangala Rock and recommended visiting Sigiriya Rock for sunset, which was amazing. The cottage was comfortable, the pool fantastic on these hot, sultry December days, and the wildlife amazing: monkeys, peacocks, and nearby elephants which we glimpsed in the dark. Best of all was the delicious home-cooked Sri Lankan food, and the kind and friendly family. It is a little way out of the village but this is easily accessed by tuktuk. It is Aldo nice and quiet. Highly recommended.

Manolo was very helpful and helped us get tuk tuk rides and made our stay very easy!

We loved that the rooms are all tucked away among rice paddies, lily ponds, or open out onto the water body that teems with bird life, fish, and some crocs. We appreciated the nature-conscious philosophy of the hotel and their efforts to respect the wildlife of the area. The evening dining is very good, the rooms beautiful, spacious, and tasteful and the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The heat is quite something so we really recommend the rooms with small plunge pools.

It was really clean, the bed was comfortable. Just a really good host! Felt like having a second mom 🥹 She was waiting till late evening, knowing I come back. Even in the early morning (sunrise hike) she woke up with me and waited till I got picked up 🫣 I got a breakfast to go in the morning I left. Just thank you!
