J-Hoppers Kumano Yunomine Guesthouse is situated in Hongu, a 10-minute drive away or a 70-minute walk on the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Route from Kumano Hongu Taisha Grand Shrine. Everything was very clean and orderly. Beds were very comfortable and duvets very warm in colder November weather. Lovely common area and a nice shared kitchen with free evening rice and morning porridge. Access to private onsen which was a real treat! This was some of the best value for money I’ve seen - highly impressed! Completely exceeded my expectations.

All monks and staffs are friendly and warm welcome. They are good looking too! 😊 Participate all programs of the temple was great. we joined meditation , morning service , fire ritual and night cemetery tour.

Great location, just a few minutes’ walk from the start of the atmospheric path to Okunoin Temple. Food was excellent and the Buddhist monks who run the place take good care of you. The meditation sessions, and especially the fire ritual, are memorable. Fantastic value overall.

We really enjoyed the sauna and hot tub that felt brand new. It is also a convenient 10-minute walk to the beach! The host took some memorable pictures of us, which we also really appreciate. This is a special place ran by a genuine, down-to-earth host. Thank you G-Sun for creating a lovely Wakayama experience!

Authentic experience in a mountain guesthouse, managed by a kind couple. The place is interiorly fournished in the traditional style with a last centiry-themed (50/60/70s? - not quite sure, but it is beautiful) dining room. The dinner and breakfast were superb! The hosts offered to guide us to koyasan (one hour drive one way) the next day. We were running a bit late and the hosts very worried about us - we want to say thank you once again for your patience.

Located in the sacred Mount Koya area, 高野山 宿坊 桜池院 -Koyasan Shukubo Yochiin- is a historic temple and an accommodation for visitors. A beautiful place for those who know what they are looking for.
