Antica Mateola terletak di Matera, 2.1km dari Matera Cathedral dan 2.1km dari MUSMA Museum. The hosts were incredibly helpful and punctual with the check-in. They gave us a map and explained how to reach all the nearby attractions. They also recommended some great places to eat. In the morning, they brought us fresh croissants, and there was aromatic coffee available at all times – what more could you need for a romantic getaway? The ancient city of Meteora isn’t too far, and we had free parking right in front of the property, so we’re more than satisfied. We’d love to visit again! Thank you!

L'Hotel In Pietra offers unique rooms set in the Matera Sassi area, a UNESCO site. All rooms and suites have free Wi-Fi and a laptop is available on request. Breakfast is buffet style. Got a great value deal on a small single room (which was small but very comfortable, may be a bit stuffy during mid summer but in early October it was perfect) for just a single night (busy itenerary) and was treated as if I was a regular staying in a suite for the nth time. Super friendly and helpful staff (everyone if you speak some Italian, but also fluent English speakers on staff). Location is great and the views from the hotel are breathtaking.

We had a very late arrival, around 11pm, and the staff were beyond accomodating. Our transfer shuttle met us at the packing garage and the communication was seemless. Giovanni was at reception upon check in, and was an absolute delight. Francesco was also very helpful, with wine and snacks ready when requested even at such a late arrvial time. Both were so proud of the hotel and the area, full of great tips and lots of history about the hotel and the area. Our room was amazing, we had a terrace which was so great to see the view late at night. The breakfast was lovely too, and we were sad we were only there for one night! Can not recommend this hotel enough. A great location to discover the town, with the friendliest of staff! (Fillipe who carried our bags up and down those stairs and drove us back to our car was amazing as well).

Staying at MOYΣEION felt like stepping back into the world of Magna Graecia. The welcome ritual performed by Davide made the whole experience really special and set the tone for our stay. The service was outstanding, the staff incredibly helpful, and the cave pool was just breathtaking—my friend Pete especially loved the statues surrounding it. The togas, rituals, and attention to detail made the whole visit immersive and memorable. I also recommend booking an Ape Car tour through the front desk when you arrive—it’s the perfect way to explore Matera. Plus, if you call ahead, they’ll even arrange a pickup from the bus station, which is really convenient.

We loved this hotel! It has been beautifully restored. The rooms are lovely, very nicely decorated. The location was perfect. And I can not say enough good things about our hosts. Over and beyond wonderful. We stayed two nights, and could easily have stayed one or two more.

We would definitely come back.
