Shibui was originally built in the 1960s as an award-winning luxury Japanese style resort: A colony of Japanese cottages, and a place for travellers to St. Thomas to enjoy a high-design experience. Now Shibui has transformed into a unique gated community of 26 historically preserved cottages—each with their own unique layout and view across the island.

Hi! We are Diane and Dorothee. Two friends with a shared love of timeless style, vintage everything - and dogs! Until recently, we owned the DeWitt, Oak Hill a top-rated Catskills inn. Now we are applying our ethos to our mid-century find, Shibusa at Shibui on the Caribbean Island of St. Thomas. We continue our mission to create an environment where you feel at home - just in the Caribbean. It's not fussy, not formal—just simple chic comfort. We are always available to answer questions. However, our property managers are on island and available to answer questions and address any issues you may have onsite.

Shibui is located on the mountaintop overlooking the airport, so you can be out of the airport and settled into your own unique and chic home within 7 minutes! You can actually see (but seldom hear) the planes fly in and out across the sea. We love watching them fly off into the sunset! As with most places in St. Thomas, a car is highly recommended. The use of taxis can be expensive. St. Thomas is a perfect combination of island life and American convenience. It is about the same distance as Florida (from the East Coast). Because it is part of the United States, there are no passports, foreign money or languages to worry about. Your only worry will be which bathing suit to wear… Important! A rental car is needed for this property to get around the island. Taxis are expensive and walking to beaches is difficult because of the winding, steep roads on St. Thomas. Free parking space on premises.
