The townhome is built on Shanahan Ridge that defines the south end of Boulder. There is a view of the mountains to the west from the deck on the back side of the house. There is a patio on the east of the house shaded by evergreens. A good place for breakfast in the morning sun or having dinner in the shade. The house was completely refinished at the is beginning of the year. There is a path along the ridge looking down and across the South Boulder. There is park space across the street to the east. The park includes a track sports fields a lake with a walking track around it and a recreation center with a pool, gym, and outdoor tennis courts. It is about 2 miles north to downtown Boulder.

The property is in south Boulder. On the edge of the open space in the valley of the South Boulder Creek. There are trailheads in the valley reachable by foot or car within half a mile. The trailheads to the West are also easy to reach by foot or car by a paved walk that adjoins the open space and heads west about half a mile. The trails lead up into the Boulder Mountain Park which features the Flatirons rock formations. The mountain park was part of an overall park and open space design done around 1910 by Fredrick Law Olmsted junior. Also to the west on a small hill is the well-known landmark of the National Center For Atmospheric Research-NCAR designed by New York Architect I.M. Pei. Other parts of the plan where the preservation of Boulder Creek and its wooded banks. The creek flows out of Boulder Canyon to the west and include Central Park near downtown Boulder. One of the attractions in downtown Boulder is the pedestrian mall with many restaurants and shops. Including the previously discussed Open Spaces to the south and west Boulder is surrounded by open space. There is ranch land to the north and east. Bounder Reservoir to the north has a beach. There is a trail along Boulder Creek to the east. Part of the way along the creek is Walden Ponds Wildlife Habitat with walking trails through several lake inhabited by waterfowl, birds, and small animals.
