Convento de São Francisco
The Convento de São Francisco is a built in a 17th century Franciscan convent. Set in São Miguel Island, in the Azores, this renovated property has an outdoor swimming pool and overlooks the Isle of Vila Franca. The comfortable rooms at the Convento de São Francisco feature a private wardrobe, bathroom with free toiletries and views over the surrounding area, garden and the ocean. A daily breakfast buffet is served in the convent and is included in the room rate. Local restaurants are available within a 10-minute drive, most serving traditional Portuguese meals. There is also a lounge area, with sofas and a TV. The Lagoa do Fogo is one of the island’s most famous tourist spots. It has lush green surroundings, several hiking trails around it and is one of the largest lagoons in all of the Azores. It is a 30-minute drive from the Ponta Delgada centre, which has a historical city centre, bars cafés and local shops. The unit is 500 metres from a beach area and there is a commercial area just 100 metres away, with a variety of shops. The Ponta Delgada Airport is a 29-minute drive from the Convento de São Francisco, and there is an airport shuttle available, at a surcharge.
