Welcome to Tarras Countryside Retreat – A Peaceful Stay in Our Country Home If you’re looking for a tranquil escape surrounded by stunning mountain views, we’d love to welcome you to Tarras Countryside Retreat. Our home is nestled just off one of New Zealand’s most scenic routes, offering breathtaking vistas of the Pisa mountains. You'll be staying in a private guest room within our home, where we offer two guest rooms in total. Guests have access to a shared bathroom with walk in shower and bath and a shared living area (used only by guests), creating a cozy and welcoming space to relax. While there’s no full kitchen, we provide a microwave and fridge for your convenience. If you’re planning meals, please note that the nearest supermarkets are in Cromwell or Wanaka—let us know if you’d like recommendations! Our home sits on four acres of peaceful countryside, offering plenty of privacy while still being an ideal base for exploring the region. Nearby attractions include Mount Cook, the Hooker Valley Track, the Twizel salmon farm, Lake Wanaka’s famous tree, and the Lake Dunstan Cycle Trail. As your hosts, we live on-site and are here to ensure you have a comfortable and memorable stay. Our friendly dogs, Wai and Maggie, love meeting new guests, and we look forward to welcoming you to our little piece of paradise in the South Island.

Our place in Tarras is right in the heart of farm country, surrounded by wide-open spaces and breathtaking 360-degree mountain views. It’s incredibly peaceful here—just you, the fresh country air, and the occasional farm animals for company. The mountains provide a stunning backdrop, changing colors with the sunrise and sunset, making it the perfect spot to kick back with a cup of coffee and soak in the serenity. For a delicious breakfast or lunch, the Tarras Country Café is just a short drive away, offering great coffee, homemade treats, and hearty meals in a charming rural setting. If you’re in the mood to explore the local wine scene, Māori Point Winery is a must-visit, known for its boutique wines and stunning riverside setting. Cloudy Bay’s Central Otago cellar door is also nearby, where you can enjoy world-class Pinot Noir and other exceptional wines while taking in the vineyard views.
