We are happy to receive you in our holiday homes in Oostmahorn, Friesland, Netherlands. We have been renting our cottages since 1994. House rules: -Sunday check-in not available. - Check-in time: earliest arrival time 15:00 - Well behaved pets are welcome. For a dog, we charge 5,00 Eur per day. Dogs must be registered in advance. -Fishing license price: 15 Eur per week. -Barbecue is allowed. -Smoking in the house leads to loss of security deposit.

The house is about 80 m² in size. There are 3 bedrooms, one with queen bed size, another two bedrooms with two single beds. The living room has an integrated modern kitchenette with a dishwasher and an electric oven. The bathroom and the toilet are in the same room. The garden is fenced. There is a terrace with comfortable chairs. and a barbecue is available. In the externally accessible storeroom is a washing machine. The house has its own parking and is less than 100 meters from the playground. There is (de) Sat and (nl) cable tv.

Oostmahorn is an old stronghold at the at the western side of the Lauwerslake with a rich history, dating back to the sixteenth century. Nowadays it’s a very pleasant tourist destination at the National Park Lauwersmeer, hosting several holiday resorts. The lake itself and the direct surroundings are a true paradise for nature lovers, fisherman, bird watchers, water sports enthusiasts, cyclists and hikers. Dogs are more than welcome here as well. There’s a special beach and a forest for them at Lauwersoog. Within a couple of hundreds of meters there are several playgrounds for children. At the beach, in the small resort ‘De Skâns’ and in Esonstad - which is a holiday resort build as a replica of a typical old Frysian city. In Esonstad you’ll even find a bouncy castle and an indoor playing hall and one can play golf and foot golf here at the local Pitch & Putt area. Renting a bicycle or e-chopper is also possible here. In Esonstad you can easily do your daily groceries (a bigger supermarkt is just a couple of kilometers away in Anjum) or find a restaurant, pizzeria or a snackbar. Another three restaurants are even closer to your holiday house. Some of them offer spectacular lake views. Other good options to enjoy the local seafood cuisine are the sea harbor of Lauwersoog at the northern side of the lake, the old fishing village of Zoutkamp at the eastside of the lake or at Dokkum, the most northern fortified city of Friesland. To discover the National Park from the waterside you could bring your own boat or surf gear but there are boats and sailing boats for rent as well at ‘Paviljoen La Barca’. A boat-tour, or seal expedition can be booked around the corner and a ferry to the beautiful island of Schiermonnikoog, with it’s many miles of sandy beaches, is leaving from Oostmahorn as well. With the title Dark Sky Park, in Lauwersmeer National Park you can truly experience nature in the dark!
