After running our B&B for 19 years on DROOGBAK we moved in June 2018 to our new Mansion at HERENSTRAAT 26. Just couple of minutes away from the old location and around a 10 minute walk from Centraal Station.
Our tropical decorated guest house with 2 rooms, is located in a typical Amsterdam canal (town) house built in the 18th century.

Through the years, Barangay B&B has been showered with multiple Awards & Recognitions. We are humbled by hundreds of excellent guest reviews.
THE “TROPICAL” ROOMS
The spacious double- or twin rooms are decorated in a quirky, tropical, S/E Asian style. Both rooms with air-conditioning have large en-suite bathrooms with rain showers . The rooms are located on the 2nd floor with views of the garden or the street.
Unique among B&B's, we have Japanese bidet toilets for complete hygiene. Rooms are on the second floor. Like monumental houses in Amsterdam, we have steep narrow stairs, the B&B is not suitable to those physical challenged and young childeren..
THE HOSTS
Wimmo and Godwin the owners of the guest-house are two easy-going guys, sharing their lives together since 1996. Their good friend Eduardo lives with Wimmo in the house since 2018. Godwin who lives nearby helps with the administration.
In August 1999 Wimmo & Godwin’s biggest dream came true and opened their own guest house, Barangay Bed and Breakfast at Droogbak.

Wimmo was born in a small city near Rotterdam. He was trained as a classical ballet dancer in The Hague and from 1980 till 1987, he danced for Het Internationale Dans Theater in Amsterdam. He studied graphic design and he worked for a canal boat company and managed it for 10 years. Aside from the Barangay, Wimmo worked part-time as host/guide for the same company. He is the host, in-house designer and interior decorator. In 2010 he has rediscovered his passion for painting. Since the transfer of the B&B to the Herenstraat he loves to work in the garden.

Before cold Netherlands in 1996, Godwin lived a long and happy life in tropical paradise, The Philippines. There he was a college instructor in economics and political science, a research writer both for MBC business magazine and Lady Senator Rasul. Happier times in Amsterdam, Godwin did all kind of 'odd jobs' instead of finishing his MBA studies. He also worked for a canal boat company, waited for Hard Rock Café, helped Mader run "Sunhead of 1617 Guest House" and seriously, was a data typist. A licensed tennis instructor since 2005, Godwin is a fanatic tennis player and a regular fixture in de GLTA European circuit.
He semi retired in 2018 and Wimmo is running the B&B now with help of Eduardo who moved in at 2018.
Eduardo was born in Brazil where he worked for a bank until 1992. That same year he moved to Bolzano in North Italy.
After working in a popular club , he opened his own bar “Casa Nova” in 1995. Two years later he came to Amsterdam and worked together with Godwin in Hard Rock cafe Amsterdam and several other restaurants.
THE LOCATION
The B&B is located in the canal area of the city centre within the Unesco World Heritage Site. Definitely one of the best areas to explore Amsterdam and beyond. Literally, most tourist attractions are just around the corner, within walking distance!
Our street with funky shops and trendy restaurants, boutiques, and small shops, connects two major canals. (Keizersgracht and Herengracht).
Its a 3 minute walk to the famous Jordaan area and a 5 minute walk to the Anne Frank house.
From Schiphol Airport it's a 15/20 minute train ride to Amsterdam Centraal Station
